US Soldiers Tuning Their Cars

I work for an auto-parts (specialists) company and today I got a call from a soldier in Iraq ordering parts for his 8-series bimmer. This is for when he comes home in April. Talking to him for a few minutes, I found out that all US soldiers/workers read car magazines religously during the down-time wherever they are stationed. The magazines get passed around over and over too.
Last year at this time we received a few orders from US soldiers stationed in the middle-east. I guess they're just looking for some sense of normalcy over there but I don't know how they can think about buying stuff for their cars. :confused: I'd be more worried about bringing my sorry hide home! :D

Anyways, i don't know what the point of this post is... just thought it was kinda interesting haha

American soldiers overseas are allowed to bring 1 car home, free and un-taxed transport.
Since the countries' where they go are generally poorer, they get to buy ultra cheap cars without worrying about bringing them back.
Some of my friends are soldiers in the States. A buddy stationed in Okinawa is bringing back a 3000GT, and stuffing the interior with car parts :D He bought it DIRT CHEAP, and the military is shipping it for him right into his garage.
Pretty good deal for him, and alot of soldiers are catching on.

I guess it's good for the soldiers. Keeps morale high, gives something to look forward to, and takes your mind off of the bullets!

i get orders from motors all the time from american soldiers! i have even gotten calls from Iraq lol, its funny cuz after they are done asking questions i bombard them with questions about their experiences:) , i usually end up giving most of the soldiers wholesale pricing :D

Thats great. A lot of those soldiers stationed in Japan bring back skylines and the like. Seems like the life lol.

well considering that porn and car magazines are converging into one judging by Super Street's new direction and Import Tuner's regular model features... I guess it'd be up to your preference if you want 60% of your magazine to be about cars or porn.

I read these magazines for the car info, but it never hurts to have something nice standing next to the car.

I didnt think you could drive RHD cars in the US? Or there was some limit of how many Miles you could drive it every year like a collectors car or something??

You can import a skyline if you have it done through motorex I believe. They dont have the 15 year rule, they have the 25 year rule which sucks for them. There are tons of military car lovers out there. Soo many of them own a Porsche model or 2 on rennlist. Tons of Supra and MR2 owners as well in the military.
Those super street/import tuner mags are for ricers. They have no good info in them. I think they should keep the girls out of those mags, if I want to look at girls Ill buy a porn mag.
