Is it better to do cardio wearing several layers which in turn would increase you body temp faster causing you to sweat more and possibly burn more calories?

Sweat is not a determinant of how many calories you burn. Many layers will cause you to sweat more and increase water loss but that's about it.

Sweat is the body's way of cooling down your core temp, layers will only speed the onset of this function and has no correlation with increased caloric expenditure.
