View Full Version : Well... I just bought my dream car

This may come as a shocking surprise to my fellow G2 owners, but I've just purchased a new car (not brand new). It's been my dream car for a very long time and have always wanted to own one, and now I do, will be picking it up tomorrow.

I won't say what it is just yet, but I will but will type these 3 random letters: SLC :D

That should be more than enough for someone to guess what the car is, so lets see who gets it right first.

corrado SLC, what do i win? good choice by the way, that is going to be a much different car

Prize to the first price who get it right is a set of Altezzas right?

vw corrado?

Congrats Phil on the new ride. What are you going to do with the Teg? I know somebody that was looking for one a few weeks ago. If you need a buyer let me know and I hook you up with him.

Congrats Phil...I guess we knew we couldn't all keep (or want to keep) our G2's forever. Have fun!

I think Drew finally pushed him over the edge!

Why is it called SLC? Is that the g60 supercharged model?

powerslave
02-17-2005, 10:02 PM
Euro_Trash got it, it's a 1993 VW Corrado SLC (the SLC is different than the G60, the G60 has a supercharged inline-4, while the SLC has a narrow angle V6).

As for the Integra, my younger brother bought it off of me, so if you spot the car around the town, it's gonna be him driving the Teg.

You'll have to bare with me here since I don't know much about veedubs, but from what I gather the SLC is the top options model....does that mean it came with the VR6 standard?

powerslave
02-17-2005, 10:25 PM
Yeah, all SLC's are VR6.

SLC - Sport Luxery Coupe, 2.8L narrow angle 6-cylinder, 12 V, 187.0 bhp @ 5800 rpm, 181 lbft, 15.10s. What else did you get (interior, speedlines? etc)

powerslave
02-17-2005, 10:52 PM
The interior? You mean if it's the newer style? There were two interior styles, they changed it a bit in the '93 model, that's the one I got.

Other than that the car is black color, back three windows tinted (looks like 5% tint  ), heated leather recaros, the automatic spoiler, all the good stuff. Might be a while before I get any pics, the weather will need to get nicer first.

SLc is the name for the US model, canadian vr6's are just called vr6.

Does yours have the US spec seatbelts?(the ridiculous motorized ones?) thats what will make it an slc.

If it does, Canada Customs would love to see the car too, since it would be here illegally (unless you are a US citizen, with an import permit)

Not trying to rain on your parade, I've got one too (vr6) just setting the facts straight.

Cheers

The seatbells are just regular ones, pull it yourself sort of thing you see everywhere. Guess the reason I keep referring to it as SLC is simply to distinguish it from the G60, but thanks for setting the record straight.

uhhh no
my friend's MX-3 was from the States. it has mph speedometers, no day-time running lights, and the electric seatbelts and it is here completely legally, passed a Canadian Tire inspection and everything.
volkswagens are legal for import as long as there was a equivalent Canadian model (which, for the Corrado, there is). the electric seatbelts will pass inspection here and therefore the whole thing is legal.

but anyway, Corrados are awesome. now you just need some sweet rims and you are set.

They aren't, the guy is misinformed.

Also for your information, customs does not inspect any cars that come from the states. Canadian tire does and the only requirements are made by the RIV.

IIRC its a deck lid spoiler that automatically comes up at around 40mph.

Nice choice Phil!! Those Corrado's really hold their value. You should still come out to the meets though....we'll just give you a hard time about it, but how is that any different. :D

For those Guys who choose to beleive I was wrong.

A) go to the riv.ca website, Corrados from the US are not legal in Canada. End of story.

B) I was not suggesting Canada Customs was inspecting vehicles, their interest would be how the car got imported.

C) The seatbelts were the quick giveaway for a US model, not meaning to imply thats why they were not allowed.

D) Have a nice day

Cheers
Miles

Haha, nice find Matt, I should pick up a set of those! j/k
If I do choose to tamper with the taillights it'll be to darken them, since that'd look so nice on a black car.

Yeah man, I'll definitely give ya a spin once I get everything taken care of. Give me a couple of days.

As for the spoiler, it goes up at 45 mph and comes down at 12 mph, don't have any pics of that, maybe in the future.

hey Phill are u thinking of modifying in at all, and for the rear lights since your car is black i would go with blacking out amber parts and painting them black so u would have black/red combo like mk3 jettas vr6's

I've got the taillight curse it seems, in any case I won't be modifying the car any time soon, gotta get used to it first :D and save up some more moneys.

I might show up in the new ride tomorrow at Chinook for that G2 meet that has been planned for a while now. That is unless it snows, the car still has summer tires on, will have to get some all seasons on there asap.... just checked the forecast, seems like it'll snow, so not sure if I'll be there.

Good choice on a car, always liked them.

Isn't it nice actually having torque?! Nice flat broad torque from 2500-5500RPM too, eats those G2's for lunch.

Glad Miles set a lot of people in their place, feels good.

That is a Corrado VR6, SLC is an American thing only, dont ever use that again, haha.

Enjoy owning the most expensive to repair water cooled VW on the planet haha.

Ain't that the truth.:banghead:

She's a beuty, great choice.

Check out www.corrado-club.ca awsome resouce and forum. You probably already know about www.vwvortex.com, if you don't it can be useful as well. Don't mind the petty, high schoolish attiitude in the forums.

Cheers, Chris.

BTW If you need anything parts wise let me know, I still have some stuff left from the last one.

Holy Cow Chris,

You STILL have stuff left?

My garage now has 3 golfs including your old one, and my VR6 Corrado (for sale and everything works).

Don't let me buy anymore of your leftovers,

Chris and Arlyn too!

They have now repainted your old Corrado and have a 1.8t about to go in.

Cheers,
Miles

Sorry to jack the thread:

Hey miles I don't realy have much left you, Arlen or Chirs would want. Just misc bits pieces.

I hope the turbo I sold Arlen and Chris will be suffiecent.:D

You have too much money and time.

I thought the guys where using the G60 block and the Majestic turbo setup? have they switched to a full 1.8T factory setup?

Miles you have any aftermarket goodies for the mk4 golf? This factory suspension is killing me.

Cheers, Chris.
