The car is turbo, and the hp is little, but i think turbo's add alot more torque:thumbsup: torque wins races

89 probe GT is my winter car too. My engine is is top shape! But I think my car is too fast for stock because I'm not sure if my stock boost gauge is incorrect or not but at times it spikes past the 6psi mark, but stock boost guages are nortorius for being inacurate so I'm not sure.

your boost should be running at around 7.3 psi and overboost to 9, i have never had an over boost though. so a little past 6 is where it should be. Does your boost levels drop after driving the car for a long time like between the start line and the 6, so like 3-4 psi??

Judging from his peak HP/TQ numbers, my guess is the turbo runs out of steam and starts dropping off torque pretty hard right after the peak (3400rpm). If the TQ was kept close to the 227 mark, HP would've kept going up, but it peaks at the same rpm as TQ peak which validates my theory.

Nothing a bigger turbo can't fix. I've raced a few done up probes back in the day, and umm, they're pretty damn quick.

nice torque amount. anything over 220 is excellent.

I have 302 but its prob about 280 actual.

 thanks rage. my torque and hp peaked, then the turbo droped psi and then numbers went down, but you dialed it pretty good:thumbsup: bigger turbo, new engine, 2 turbos, all in good time :D

Ya it spikes to the middle of 6-12, then falls off to the 6-7 mark and does not fall. The one thing about this car though is that the suspension does not seem able to deal with the torque steer well. I guess no lsd though.

WTF, I did a double take at this. Thought you might have a turbo on a vulcan 3L, though they didn't put em in till 1990

i never knew it but the cars in back to the future 2 are mainly probes. Like all the future cars. A lot of them are probes. Its funny the body kits they have on them.

There's my dyno run...My goal for spring is 450 at the wheels on my interim motor, and for fall with my bridgeport I am gonna aim for 550-600 at the wheels, still shopping for my T51 right now...Maxt

I can kinda explain what happened....

Ken wanted me to rig together a boost "controller" in a hurry with no notice. All I had kicking around was a "adapter" T-fitting and a fish tank valve.

The T fitting though has very small inlets/outlets. I am gonna guess 1/16" to 1/8". As it turns out, all the boost "gains" we got were from the restriction, and almost nothing from the bleed (since we removed the bleed all together, and left the hose dangling free style and there was hardly any change in boost levels )

Basically, the small diameter holes caused the initial boost "spike" to about 11 psi, (by restricting flow to the actuators) but then leveled off to stockish 6 or 7 psi as the cans "caught up" and pressured up.

If we had a bigger ID "t" fitting on hand, the boost would have stayed up there, but may not have "hit" as hard with the bleed. Next time, we can try a plunger valve with a bleed after it to fine tune the response....

Nice Torque

Toma

What happened to the strait 60 idea?

Maxt

60 isn't big enough for more than 500hp on a rotary, it will get me through spring and part of summer till I can get a t51..
The 60 will then find a home on my beater 7, I was looking at the gt40/42 turbo, but the rebuilding cost should something go wrong is just to damn high..Maxt

Thanks Toma Next time we'll try to keep it at 12PSI for a 1/4 mile run and have some fun.
