Ok here's the experiment with the Alpine type R

The center of the cone was cracked / it was sealed and repaired.
the cone did not crack on the underside because it was damaged in the center.
anyways if the sub is reverse mounted in a sealed enclosure will the repaired crack alter the sound in any way?

well a friend and I tried this and it seemed to have hammered just as good as a brand new one. well there was just a small loss of quality, but it sounded pretty good. (for a type R)

does anyone know if this is possible or do I sound like I'm on crack:nut:

i think the only matter of anything in that scenario is the soundness of the cone... as far as material sturdiness.. so yeah... it could sound just fine as long as you didnt fry the coils or something...

so i dont think you're on crack... but..... it is all how you set it up, play around with the enclosures and stuff maybe you can get it to sound better. or... worse..? if you wanted haha :barf:
