Has anyone ever gotten temporary insurance (ie coverage for 1 or two days)?

Basically to buy a car, register it and transport it to a body shop.

ive had temp coverage to move my truck out of storage, not really good cause it cost quite a bit, whenever u buy a car u have a week i think to transfre your insurance from your existing car to your next car, i always switch my insurance, but i think u get a week when u buy your car.

I think a tow truck can move an uninsured car. The car won't need insurance since you're not driving it, and any damage will be covered by the tow truck's insurance. This might be a faster, cheaper and easier route to go.

yeah you can buy temporary insurance for 1 or more days. then you can go down to the registry and get an In Transit permit for your car so you can drive you car without a license plate. The catch is that you can ONLY drive it to the body shop. the In Transit permit goes for $22.49

When I needed temporary insurance my broker just gave me the insurane coverage I needed for the length of time I needed it for (3 days) at no cost. Might be worth checking with them...

See my main reason to get temporary insurance is so that I can get the car registered in my name and transfer my plates over. So than when I am finished working on it all I have to do is put insurance on it. I am going to phone around today though.

I know one of my buddies got a car insured for a day just so someone could take it on a test drive when he was selling it because he had it in mothballs up to that point.

Next time I talk to him I'll try to find out what he did...

I just called him, not home. Apparently he's on christmas holidays and I dunno when he gets back. I'll try to ask a few of his friends and see if they know how he did it but I have a feeling they won't know. sorry.

I think you'd have a better chance of getting caught driving without insurance at night!

The cops seem to run every plate they see...
