A friend of mine has purchased a 96 Audi A4, the car was running fine just needed some minor TLC work and the lights didn't work right. Her boyfriend was working on the car and when he took off the gauge cluster/ dash it sayed 97 year. The car was sold to them privately and was last registered in Ontario, when she went to the registry and asked if it was possible to see what kind of milleage was on the car when it was last registered the lady sayed 249,000km. They confronted the seller but he denies knowing anything about it and they got into a huge verbal fight. What should they do now as they want their money back $11,000 and they suspect the guy is curbing cars like this all the time. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you all in advance. Peter
PS: the km's on the 97 dash are at 164,000km

well thats misrepresentation, and i'm sure u can take him to court to try to get ur money back, but i don't know if its worth the hassle.....thats why u should always get a car checked by a mechanic, and look at the history before droppin 11gs................i hope u fuck this guy, cause robbing kids of their hard earned money is pretty fucking low...gl man:thumbsup:

since its not from a dealership the most u could do is go to court, and i dunno how well that would work.

she got the car checked out by an audi specialist but he didn't take the dash apart just checked the car throughout and listed all things that need to be fixed however minor, her boyfriend found out about the cluster swap when he was fixin lights. Thank to all for input, Peter

Odometer fraud is a pretty big deal and if the vin matches another record with higher mileage the seller may very well be on the hook.
