How long have you had the xbox for? Do you happen to know what version it is?

I've had the box for about a year. I don't know what version it is. I'll see if I can find out, but if you can tell me how, it'll make it easier. It's one of the one's that needs a new power cord from Microsoft, and I've already ordered it. Whoever buys it, I'll send the cord to them in the mail once I receive it. If it needs a new power cord it's pre 1.6. It'll do Linux ;)

Just an FYI, THIS (http://www.xbox-linux.org/Xbox_Versions_HOWTO) is how you can check your xbox version.

From what I heard power cord replacements were needed for pre-2004 units in North America, so yours should be an "older" version.

Linux runs on the 1.6 versions just fine, but you lose half of the screen due to overscan issues. Older versions don't have this issue (because they changed the video hardware in version 1.6 and no one's yet figured out how to properly display with it in Linux)
