Stupid question but i'm new to cars what does and intercooler do to your car,does it increase horse power?

Yes it does, it cools the pressurized air going into your engine. Your car needs to have forced induction (turbo or supercharger) to do anything for you. Don't ask technical questions in here though as this is the marketplace and there is a section for questions like this in the car forum.
