ph: 229-0376 ; located in beltline area of Calgary, just south of Downtown

*this Saab belongs to a close friend who currently has 3 vehicles and only needs 2. As I'm much more centrally located in Calgary than he is and my time is more flexible than his to show the vehicle, he asked me to advertise and show the car for him.

for those who aren't familiar with Saab hatchbacks, when the rear seats are folded out of the way, the interior room rivals that of many stationwagons.

(carry your bikes, snowboards, skiis, lumber, etc. with you inside while still driving a very fuel efficient yet powerful, luxury sport vehicle).

Possibly interested, I drove one in sept. for a few days, pretty cool cars.

Ill talk to my gf tonight and see what she thinks, my only concern was the reliability of it.

Does it need anything?
Hows the condition of the body?
and was where was it maintained?

Does it need anything? Just a new owner.
Absolutely everything works properly (all the electricals, power eqpt., onboard computer, lights, signals, A/C and climate control, stereo, etc.)
The summer tires are the only thing I would be looking at replacing if I were buying the car. They still have tread, but, you might wear them out by the end of the summer. I have found several used tire sellers who have the correct size, matched set of 4, 65 % tread left, for around $100 for the set of 4.

Condition of the body: no damage with normal pkg lot marks. ie: it isn't a new car, but, still looks fine. When I say pkg lot marks, I mean a few little scratches or marks where some :nut: has opened their car door against it, not hit it anywhere with their bumper or while their car was moving.
Interior is very nice, leather is not torn and no cigarette burns as I believe the previous owners were non smokers as is my friend.

I have quite a few service records from Crowfoot Saab.

I can tell you from driving it that it is a fun, sporty car to drive with enormous amounts of room inside if you need to take all your worldy possessions with you. When the turbo kicks in there is no mistaking it. It gets good gas mileage on regular unleaded.

In terms of reliability, it won't be quite equal to that of say, an Acura Rl or Lexus ES300, but, then again you can't buy a used '99 of those cars for anywhere close to $12,950 (or less) either and I think this car is more fun to drive than either of those 2 I mentioned as well as being a car that is certainly more unique than most on the road.

What breaks on Saabs?
Is any part of the car still under warranty?
How expensive is it to service these luxury import vehicles?

Thx

Well, from personal experience, absolutely ANY part can break on ANY vehicle. I am not aware of any particular issues that have been red flagged on this car after reading numerous professional and private reviews.

As far as I'm aware, the warranty has expired (I believe it was 4 years/ 80 km - same as Volvo, BMW, Jaguar, etc.). There is possibly an extended rust warranty (many manufacturer's rust warranties extend a bit longer than the normal warranty) although there is no rust anywhere on the car so it's rather academic at this point.

In terms of expense of repairs, it is NOT like servicing a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Jaguar, Lexus and I'd suggest slightly cheaper than a Volvo. It will be a bit more than servicing a Maxima, Accord or Camry. Perhaps in the same ballpark as a Mazda Millenia S.

If you are interested, I'd suggest coming over to view the car and take a look at the service and repair invoices and you can get a rough idea from there. As noted earlier, all the eqiupment on the car is working properly.

**** PRICE DROP TO $13,200 / OFFERS?? ****

In terms of this price range, and in a 1999 model, in a fun to drive, powerful and yet economical, very safe, fully, fully loaded luxury and sports import, this car is extremely hard to beat in the value for your dollar dept.

Compare it against :

Audi A4
BMW 3 series
Infiniti I30 and Maxima SE
Acura TL
Volvo S60 or 850 S70 T5
Mazda Millenia S

*** PRICE DROP TO $12,950!! / OFFERS?***

Unfortunately, thus far, all readers of this ad on Beyond have refused to educate themselves in any way about this model of car, do any price research, or come to actually take a look at this car.

Fortunately, I am now starting to get a few calls from Saab enthusiasts outside of Calgary who recognize what a great deal this is and I don't expect it to stick around that much longer.

This is a fully, fully loaded 1999 luxury sport import in great shape with reasonable mileage for a price far below what many competing other brands and even other Saabs are priced at. Someone is going to get a fantastic deal here simply because everyone else is so focused on other cars that they aren't even watching what they are getting for the prices they are paying.

Just to clarify, this is NOT an accident repaired car. The hood and front fenders were repainted a few months ago because they were badly stone chipped. I personally saw the car BEFORE it was painted and there was absolutely no damage. The windshield also had a crack in it and was replaced.

Crowfoot Saab had also examined the car recently and indicated it was in very good condition, other than the summer tires, which was mentioned above.
