can you add an extra seat to a vanagon?

i am interested in purchasing a westfalia volkswagen vanagon (the camper type with the fridge and stove and such), however, the only models that i have found that include the camping features have seating for only up to 5 people. however, there is clearly room to add another seat (for example, http://www.californiavan.com/84ASI_...es/Image31.html). is it possible to just buy another seat and install it somehow without it being illegal?
