Hey i just bought a 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2. Its dual voice coil. It makes 400 watts at rms and 800 at peak. Just want to power the one sub. What sort of amp should do the trick for what i need? Can anyone help?

if the subs are dual 4 get a D-mono at 400rms or 500rms it will pound!!!

if the subs are dual 2 ethier find a 1ohm stable mono or a 2ch amp

phoenix gold xenon 400.1 awsome amp
JL 500/1 is even better (expensive)
alpine mrd 501 is good
MTX 400 1 is a good price at Future shop

rockford power series are 1ohm stable
PG Xenon 400.1 is too but this amp runs better at 4ohms.

nothing beats 500/1 in terms of quality and options you gotta remember that with a j/l amp minimum output is 500 watts no matter what you ohms level , battery output...bad point of course in price point....but if you pay full tag your on drugs...i used to work at soundsaround...500/1 has about a 40 percent markup in store...if i remember you should be able to get it for around $535.00 plus tax...tag is around $749.00..but do not quote me on this as i cant remember exactly. another option is the kicker sx 600.1 if you have the cash ($1399.00)...heres a rundown based on fact that i used to sell the stuff

rockford-lots of bass, good price point, not to great sound quality

j/l-good bass, expensive, incredible soundquality, extensive tuning options

pheonix gold-good bass, expensive, good sound quality, medium tuning options

alpine-ok bass (opinion lol), decent price point, good sound quality, medium tuning options, digital

kicker-lots of bass, highly expensive, great sound quality, tons of tuning options, digital

could list more but i am tired. thats a great sub though too bad they dont make it any more...silly rockford lol

in the market place happy dude is selling an mtx 800/1 rms mono class d amp its 2 ohm stabledont be a sucker for visions u can get the kicker stuff for about a third of the cost off of the internet visions is way overpriced kuz theyre the only kicker dealer in calgary also i think the jl amps are way over rated but it is true about the one ohm stable thing at any batt level just way too expensive the mtx one from the market place will suffice and be maxing your subs run the coild in paralell and the subs in a series

The new Thunder amps are alot nicer than the MTX at future shop and are 1 ohm stable on the class D. They also look awesome i seen them at car salon the other day.

I would go to car salon and check out the MTX TA3401 it's a 400 watt RMS mono amp and it looks awesome. I can't remember the price but it wasn't that much for such an awesome amp
