Well its definetly no surprise that the top of that list is covered with African countries. It really messed up that the entire continent is often overlooked but they arnt a military or economic power, they dont have oil, and arnt a threat to us...so I guess frankly westerns dont care...sorta sad.

I agree. IMO, there are way too many calgarians that start talking like a liberal canadian the moment someone mentions the US.

as long as any one country on the security council can veto, as long as open bribary is acceptable... the UN will suck ass.

The moment it is run like a legal democracy, it will improve 100 fold.

Let's not flare up another American argument.

Here's the purpose of the thread to get it back on track:

How do you figure that the UN is the liable party for all this? Do you know someone who actually works DIRECTLY with the UN? There are 100s of things to consider before relief efforts can be utilized.

If a country has an extreme envirnoment (violence, disease, political) then it may not be in the right interest to send relief efforts. Dont believe the hype, the UN has many restrictions as well, trust me!

And those restrictions are why the UN is useless. Read "Shake Hands with the Devil", it is a story of a guy from the UN who was in Rwanda during the massacre, but could not move his troops because they were afraid of what their involvement might cause, so he sat their, talking on a phone to a guy crying for help as people broke into his house and killed him and his family...I think the writer ended up commiting suicide.
