The Focus doesn't like snow !! The traction control is working overtime. I got stuck trying to get up 12th st behind the Deerfoot Mall yesterday morning , but today has been okay..so far..
I might be able to get away without buying snow tires if we don't get a lot of snow at once. But the next dump we get like this, I'll take a cab if I'm on the roads before the plows...

Get some cheap steelies and some half way decent snow tires (don't have to smash the piggie bank or anything, just some reasonable ones) and you're laughing.

Here's a question . Could I get away with just front snow tires ??
I'm thinking not.....

You could, but it would tend to make the back end REALLY loose.

That's what I was thinking..
I'll check into 4 tires !!

Drive to pick your part, or open the bargain finder - you can get some decent snow tires for cheap - around 100 bux or so for the 4

Doh !! I have to use 17" rims due to the large brakes. I'm looking at around $330-370 for just a tire !!
So , now I'm checking into some decent all seasons. I had some on my plain Focus SE and they worked great.
That should save me a bunch if they're available in the correct size..
Fingers crossed..

My car rocks in the snow with four 225/45/17 snows! Nothing like 3000lbs, ~335HP and no silly traction control :poosie:
There is no way you need to spend $350+ per tire. There are lots of options in the $2XX range.

i am on 17inch dunlop winters.
they are dope !.
you dont have to worry about being stuck as much 9with the help of some sand bags too)
I love driving at night when no one is on the road with traction OFF! :)
I did such a good burnout it lasted forever !.

Yup. The Hankooks are about 180 per corner. I've got them.

Driving the last 2 days has been okay,as long as I'm easy on the gas and brakes. I live very close to work,so I might just leave the tires as is for this winter . I can always cab it if the roads get bad . $800+ gets a LOT of cab rides !! I can also take the bus on some shifts..

Mine were $1200 for the set. Blizzak MZ-01's in 245/45/17. Same problem, I couldn't size down b/c of the large brakes.
That's a hell of a lot of Blizzak....and I really feel the weight of my 3800lb car when I try to stop. :D

Oh yeah, that would be my kind of ride, as long as it was RWD or AWD and had at least 180HP ;)
