Edit: after rewatching the trailer, it seems to follow the book. I noticed a scene involving what looked to be a barge loaded with people being attacked, which is straight out of the book.

Really? I read the book a while ago so I dont remember it perfectly, but it seemed to be completely different. Of course the time and place, and even the way the explosions happened and stuff...:dunno:...it looks pretty good, but it all depends on what the aliens look like, that could make or break the movie.

I know exactly why - she's creepy as hell to look at for more than a few minutes at a time. Much too pale, sunken in eyes, lack of weight for a child her age (ie. where's the baby fat?) so it kinda makes her look unhealthy.
