Yes the stock header is sometimes better than most after market header systems

it depends for what application. a header is tuned for a specific rpm. so an aftermarket header might be better than stock at 8 grand, but worse than stock at 2 grand.

4-2-1 headers improve more midrange power, giving more torque and more daily usable power.

4-1 headers give all out top end for racing.

factory header my car is a 4-2-1 anyways. Chances are it is the same on your prelude

4-1 headers give all out top end for racing. thats a good general rule...but its a lot more complicated than just that. a header has to shaped a certain way to make the exhaust "pulses" sync up at a certain rpm for maximum flow...

Anway before anything else , research has been done the stock header for the H22 motor is by far better than any after market header than Mugen, other than that the 00-01 header is the best stock header you can get, but will need modification to fit on the 4th gen
