OK I was wondering, have any of you guys done a JDM Swap?

Here is my situation.

USDM Turbo Body Harness, JDM Engine, JDM Engine Harness, JDM ECU.

Car cranks, but no spark.

All components are fine, but it does not want to give spark to the spark plug wires.

Whats goin on here?

Thx

First do you have good ground wires hooked up to good ground points.? Do you have the connector that sends a signal to the ECU plugged in? That is the nasy one with a number of wires. Second do you have the middle wire on the cap hooked up? If you do does it get a signal? If no the problem is probably upstream. How are your coil etc?
Keep working your way back until you find the culprit.

The Mechanics say everything is fine, they are just not getting a signal to fire back at the distributor, im not totally sure but something like that.

The coil, distributor, and ignitor is all working fine. The ecu is fine, and everythign is plugged in.

Well some thing has to be wrong some where. If you aren't getting spark there are 2 paths to look at. Either the ECU doesn't know that the engine is going round and round and so isn't telling every one else to do their thing or it is telling every one else to do their thing and they aren't for some reason.

The first is easy to check. Pull your distributor and plug the connector with 4 wires back in. Pull the cap off and turn the key to the on position. When you do, the fuel pump will run for 5 seconds and then turn off. Now spin the rotor with your hand. When you do the fuel pump should start up again. If you can't hear the fuel pump for some reason have a freind take a long screw driver and place one end on an injector or even your fuel rail and stick the other end on his ear. Now spin the distributor again. You should hear the injectors opening and closing. If not the ECU doesn't know the engine is spinning. Most likely cause distributor.

If you have eliminated number one then it is the actual ignition components themselves. Most likely the distributor down stream eg plugs, wires etc. If not then check the BGB for how to trouble shoot the rest of the components.

Thanks for the info.

The distributor was checked, and everything is good from what they can tell.

They swapped ECU's and nothing.

The distributor is sending a pulse to the ecu, but the ecu i believe is not sending one back to the dizzy.

Its weird. Sounds like ECU. So they are checking the pin outs.

That sounds almost certainly like an ecu issue. Hows the coil?

Coil is brand new MSD Blaster SS Coil.

No updates unfortunately:(

Tomorrow I am going to go see if they worked on it, if not I am going to probably take it to Toyota or something.
