View Full Version : Copying DVD's to your hard drive

I was in the process of putting all my CD's on my computer so i can make a big MP3/WMA cd for my cd payler then i Firgured i wanted to put a bunch of movies onto my computer so i can make some DVD-Rs later but I cant for the hell of me figure out how to copy my DVD's onto my computer. Any one know how to do this or a program that might help. My "record now" that came with my computer doesnt do shit.

most of u guys DO realize that this is ILLEGAL as hell...you guys should always state that its YOUR OWN DVD'S that your backing up....

Yea sorry it is my own I am i just wanted to see something. I guess i can answer my own question. I just put the DVD in and while fooling around i just copyed all of the folders on the disk and pasted them into my file. Thanks for the help

you still want a ripper, since most commercial dvd's are dual layer, they're like 8gigs. You won't be able to burn that on a normal DVD-R($0.30), and would buy a dual layer DVD-R which is like $8 a pop.

Use one of the apps above and they'll compress it to 4.5 gigs so you can fit it on a normal, cheap DVD-r.

There's nothing illegal about backing up your own property. Maybe if the made DVD's more durable, or offered free replacements for scratched DVD's, then this wouldn't be necessary.

Nothing illegal about that. But what's illegal is the circumvention of encryption, therefore you're breaking US laws (DMCA). Therefore this thread is closed.
