how much would it take to get activated and how much to buy minutes for that phone?

Activation cost should be either $0 if you do it over the phone or online, or $"something" if you do it at a dealer. Why I said "something" is because dealers are free to set prices for activation. Some places you have to pay roughly $15-25 over the cost of the SIM card. Once I paid $25 for SIM and $15 for activation, and another time at another store they wanted to charge me $25 for activation on top of the SIM and I just politely said no thanks.

I've activated over the phone (1-866-594-9456 for Pay as you go activations) and it cost me nothing. The service was fast and good too!
