yes 28000 is the asking price. yes this is private sale, but i think you still need to pay GST, but we can work something out. yup 7 hours driving with 100km/hr :D

GST is the same all across the country. You do not have to pay GST on private sales.

only for the purposes of adding a little clarity to the tax situation:

if the current owner of the car is leasing it and wishes to buy out the car and terminate the lease, GST will be payable to the company holding the lease. When the current owner then re-sells the car, that sale is NOT subject to GST.

Because the vehicle is located in Saskatchewan, the leasing company selling the vehicle may want to add in Saskatchewan PST. Because the current owner lives in Saskatchewan, he likely does not have a valid reason for avoiding the tax and when he re-sells the vehicle to someone in Alberta, that sale will not be subject to Saskatchewan PST.

If the Saskatchewan leasing company was selling the car directly to someone living in Alberta, they would charge GST for certain, but, might forego charging the PST because the car was being removed from the province. Some provinces allow corporate sellers to exempt out of province buyers from paying PST, other provinces insist they collect it, submit it to the province and the out of province buyer then must apply to the province to have the PST refunded to them. Normally it would take at least 4 - 6 weeks and the application would have to include a copy of the new owner's registration in a province other than Saskatchewan.

If someone is merely taking over the exisiting lease, no extra taxes are payable until the end of the lease if the new owner wishes to exercise the buyout right. Before releasing the current owner from his obligations under the exisiting lease, any new owner will have to qualify to assume the lease based on their own credit qualifications.

Hope that helps clear things up a little.
