Hello I have a 01 325i

I was having a debate with a friend , he said that disabling traction control (ASC) will give me better gas mileage??
Is there any truth to his argument?

If its true, how can i disabling ASC everytime the car starts? I know you can turn it off by pressing the button. But is there a way to hold the button down for liek 10 seconds or something to disable it?

Disabling the ASC won't improve your fuel economy.

As for having the car start with ASC off, I've seen a DIY procedure for an E36. Maybe there's one written up for an E46.

I'm sure that someone can confirm, but I don't think you can permanently turn off ASC. You can do it with DSC by holding down the button for ten seconds, but not with ASC.

I thought that the 01+ had DCS..... you sure you don't have DSC?

btw- I find that turning off my ASC does increase my fuel economy......
