I am pretty sure you can do it with USB but the quality will be extremely crappy and it will take a LONG time to get it onto pc

I am not 100% sure about that though but with my minidv cam I only use USB for pics and for mpeg vids, firewire for all other video

yeah i have a fire wire port but not a Fire wire conection

just go to any pc store and get a firewire cable (usually will be 6 pin to 4 pin)

the cable costs like $10 I think (will depend on length)

I think I got mine from The Computer Rack (near chinook centre) for like $10, its 6 feet long

you DO NOT need an official sony cable, any firewire cable will do

and if they did then the price will be like 5x more than anywhere else (typical radioshack style...) :D
