Does anyone else in the forum like muscle cars, i like imports
and sport-compacts but i am i getting a tad bit tired of retards
that love their "vetec" motors, at this point i am selling my nissan and about to buy a 01' Dakota R/T. Because i no longer want to be associated with people that arrange their to-do
list as-- 1. buy 10 foot wing 2. buy 20 inch "rims" 3. get an awsome cold-air intake, and 4. put some stickers on the car.

I love muscle cars, especially from the late 60's and early 70's. Those cars had more style than most things you see on the street these days.

haha welp its a generation thing.. I mean I admit, I can really appreciate the musle cars otherthan its a collector's item... but say 20-30 yrs from now you tell your kids 'dads going to buy a old porshe GT2 because its such a good car, your kid will slap you in the face and say its fugly.... know what I mean? assuming cars keep evolving to unseen levels..

flying cars? spaceships? warp? whats next? time machine lol

I love some muscle and love some Imports (rx7's 240Z....)

However i dont think you can judge a whole car group as import lovers as the so called "Ricer" person who puts spoilers on cars and stickers. I have seen those so called "ricer mods" done to 5.0 mustangs, F-body Camaro's. As for the some of the import guys who always tell storys about how fast their car is, there are just as many domestic guys sayin they ran 12's with a stock car

IMO people like that are everywhere... Just look around and you will find people more concerned with how fast they are going or proper driving technique than how fast their car looks.

Posting on this forum is a great start.

v8 are the only way. soo much torque, puts you right back in your seat

finboy

a turbo puts you back in your seat too.

for a more v8 oriented board check out http://www.performance-shop.com

yes a turbo will put you in the back of your seat but i would
have a bone-stock 426 hemi do that for me. Turbo kits cost way to much to put on a daily-driver i would love to put one on my car but not for $4,999, i am just going to rid my self of the car and
get a 5.9L / 360ci Dakota R/T

A 5.9L/360ci Dakota R/T is a truck, so now you can be associated with rednecks that arrange their to-do list as:
1. Buy a lift kit, grill guard and winch
2. Buy a gun rack to mount in the cab
3. Get awesome lights for night hunting
4. Put a Calvin-pissing-on-Chevy sticker on the rear window

Hey, no offense but you're jumping from one stereotype to another.

Drive what pleases you, not what pleases other folks.

3. Underglow for your street hunts
4. Calvin pissing on honda logo :D

Thats how is done
EDIT: In no way am i hating on hondas.. They just seem to be the majorty of rice that you see on a daily basis..

The problem with muscle cars is they have their 'ricers' too. The guys with mullets with ridicolous bumper stickers, retina searing custom paintjobs and lame interior mods like those hanging things that hang down from your mirror that have pictures of naked girls. These guys drive around 'rocking out' to White Snake and continue to 'rock on' like nobody's business much like ricers will circle a parking lot playing the same top 40 rap track in a continous loop. These guys make muscle car drivers look like trailer trash. Much like a civic is a notorious ricer mobile, the trans am is synonymous with white trash. Where is there is some very nice trans ams driven by succesful non-trailer dwelling people.

My point is that every thing you do whether it's drive a car, go to a certain place or come from somewhere there is always a negative stereotype for it. Don't let a few idiots ruin a good thing. You shouldn't care about what others do to a car that you drive as well because cars are judged on an individual basis. If YOUR car looks nice, then that's all that matters. If you do pracitical mods, you're not a ricer.

Conclusion: Who cares what other people do/think

Hahah.. I get that all the time! ;-)
I'd tell people at work what I drive, and they'd ask where my mullet is! ;-)

Most people have NO idea what my car looks like.. they hear trans-am, they think 'Knightrider'... They've never noticed or seen the newer generations..

Dont get me wrong, i like tons of imports. But I'm still sticking with what I said benny: There really is no replacement for displacement. I'd prefer to mash the pedal and send my ass to the backseat rather than mash the pedal and wait for the turbo to spool up. ;)

Edit: Actually, as I write this, tons of examples come up where relatively small displacement engines kick you in the pants from the get-go. (911 turbo being a example)

Talk about sound of a V-8. My buddy in his '67 Chevy II got on it hard leaving work today. I couldn't stop grinning for the rest of the time I was there:)

I'll have to post a vid of it soon for you to see/hear

"dont get me wrong, i would never buy one for myself"? wtf is that supposed to mean? You sound like a ignorant dickhead who's fell victim to the market myth that imports are better than domestics. And for your info acura boy, acura's best car (nsx) is way overrated and overpriced. Its the perfect bait for suckers like you who bend over the second they see a import badge.

Imports are marketed quite well, and seem to be the 'cool' car right now. You can tell who's the real import tuners and who is just driving one to be cool. Any ways I must digress.

I can parade around the streets of Calgary with a 150 font banner screaming how the 97 Skyline GT-R (R34) is the greatest car ever built and you cant disagree because no other car compares and you are an idiot. That would be dumb. The fact of the matter is there is no all-around "best car". You can't be "ricecist", nor can you hate on dometics because of what they are. These cars are produced by entirely different cultures with different and/or conflicting ideas of design and function. Everyone has their own opinions, tastes and preferences when it comes to performance, look and handling. I may sound like a hypocrite because of my infamous Street Encounter Posts. I have my opinions on cars, and I should hope there are other opinions different from mine.

When we see a Neon with a 3 foot spoiler from a supra RZ , exhaust and full body IMO it looks funny. The person who owns the vehicle would have to like it quite a bit to do those mods (or just want to look "cool"). Someone I worked with had a substantial amount of money. He drove a green 92' Escort. He can buy any car in the 80-100 thousand dollar range without blinking. I know you are all reading this, and thinking what car you could/would buy for that amount and what mods you would do. I think you could probably buy his car for under 2 thousand dollars. I asked him why he doesn't buy a new car like a CTS, M3, 350Z or a wicked classic car. He told me that his Escort was his favorite car, he loves that car and how it handles. You could offer him any car [within reason] and he would stick with his Escort. People may love their cars despite current trends, outside opinions and easily available other vehicles that are 'better' based on price.

There's a reason that there is different cars and different mods. They all have different qualities and properties which make them unique. Don't try to tell me a 97 Acura Integra Type-R will handle the same as a 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS or a 1995 Dodge Spirit. Every car has a unique feel to it. You are entitled to drive any car you want, put anything on it (If you are ready for the stinging arrows of negative opinion that is) and not fall into a stereotype, group or be accused of following a fad. Oh yeah, SmelltheRubber I agree with what you have to say for the most part. I dont think it's safe to assume just because someone drives an Acura they necesarilly love the NSX. My Grandmother has a 1.6EL and I dont think I could sell her on the NSX, although she could make it to bridge pretty quickly in that mean machine. I have a cavalier, and I am not into the corvette (chevy's top car). There's many different ideas of the 'dream car'.

Well that was just pointless rambling, and I put you all to  so I'll end it here....

Hmm I got the best of both worlds, I drive a truck with a built 440, and a car with a turbo rotary..
The sound of the 440 is to die for definetly, however the never ending seat breaking pull of the turbo is a slice of heaven for sure.

Muscle cars are nice even though i own a sunfire :thumbsdow but muscle would be my first choice if it wasnt for insurance costs. My old man owns a 2002 WS6 Trans Am (slightly modified) and a 1987 Buick GNX (not a fake) and every chance i get to drive them i just love it. Alot more power then my sunfire will have:( not saying i couldnt make my sunfire have that power but it would just cost way to much.

So, someone dredged this up from the tarry abyss, did they?

I am from the era of muscle cars, and although they were truly halcyon days, and "nothing sounds like a V8 with a wild cam"yadda yadda, I have to say that the advances in handling and braking that are offered today make it a far better sport.

Back when, I had a 1967 Plymouth GTX with a 426 Hemi, and it had 8' drums on all corners. Hauling that bastard down from a fast run was like landing an F14. The brakes and suspension setups available today are incredible. The fact that you can get a 2 litre motor to turn 13's while not upsetting the reliability is incredible. My Hemi turned mid 12's at Bison Dragways (in Manitoba) on street tires, and now there are Civics that will do that. That is incredible.

Ah, yes, there were fewer cars on the road then, and although I will dare not advocate street racing lest I get banned, I have had a few tickets for "Racing upon a Highway" - in 1975 that cost $90.00 and 2 demerits. What is it now? Jail?
However now you have organized motorsports that we did not have then, where you can go drifting and doing slaloms, and drag race.
Things have improved in many ways.

However - nothing sounds like a Big Block Mopar at full throttle.
