Another shooting in calgary, and ironically involving a Honda, and possibly gang related.

What is calgary coming to? :dunno:

It seems like the current "gang" trend in calgary does involve Honda's.. I mean, not so much that everybody and every crime involves a honda, but it doesnt help when the news states the vehicle, and it just so happens it's a honda make.

At least it's not modded.. but not only the police, but the general public that are too quick to over generalize, if your this asian dude between 17-25, and driving a honda civic... whether drawing attention to yourself or not, you can be labeled as 'suspicious'.

But that's over generalization for you. It'd make the cops aggressive to pull you over to check your ID, and using reasons that you have a loud exhaust.. aftermarket lightbulbs.. etc etc.

Props for the bystanders who rushed out to help the guy; gang-related or not, it's great to know people aren't afraid to help those who are hurt.

No matter what type of a situation it is, if a car is involved and the press find out what it is, they will publish it. They want to give out as much detail as possible.

Just because it's a Honda doesn't mean shit.

I wonder, has crime rate gone up after gun control?

Man no wonder asians are geting a bad wrap. Its a weekly occurance that one of them is getting gunned or knifed down by another.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, wheather they are trying to be hardcore or what, but it is starting to sound like a broken record.

I'm not trying to come of as a racist but IMO you have created the image yourelves.

true, I dont discredit that. But to the few that pay attention to the news, or the few that only get the details, having the most common thing come up will be what they will generalize with. If There was a swash of robberies commited by asian guys in ferrari's.. and even if it's not a factor, that's the two main things that come to mind when thinking about these recent "gang violence" incidents. Like if a bunch of assaults were commited by asian men wearing Tommy shirts, people will often jump the gun and any asian man wearing a tommy shirt might be in a gang.

It's not like it's a written code that if your in an asian gang, you must drive a honda. The last arrest, the asian guys with the weapons were found in a Chrysler Pacifica.

like the kids that street race in the industrial parks... just because they have modded cars, and the cops are cracking down on them, it gives any kid with a modded car a higher chance of being pulled over. That's just the way the society works. sexism, racialism, ageism.. just an overgeneralization.. add to the fact that these incidents are happening without warning and more frequently, people's fears are heightened. The last thing anyone wants is for people to stereotype them though.. just cos he's asian and driving a honda doesnt automatically associate him with a gang.

There hasnt really been any real "gang" violence from middle aged people.. like you see in the mobster/gangster movies.

Most of these gang things are coming from teens aged 17-middle 20's.

maybe they'll grow out of it. :D

sometimes, these kids just dont want to lose face, so they take it personally, and have some sorta vendetta against one another.

Its not generalization or racism, its profiling, and they need it to solve crimes.......How would it work if the police had a press conference and said, "we're looking for a male, aged 18-45, between 5' and 6'5", 150-250lbs..." That wouldn't work, so then yes, you bring "race" into it, because its an identifier....The isn't a racial argument, because a crime was knowingly committed, by who, who knows....Us caucasians committ lots of crimes, you don't see us bitching that that Rozco guy was making us look bad as a race, or that peterson guy.....I just think that facts are being reported, and if they are damning to a certain "group" of people, there is a reason, they brought it onto themselves....That doesn't mean every Honda you see if packed with gangstas, but yes, a few of them are......Maybe if the news reported on Sally Goodcitizen for stopping at a crosswalk so people could cross you would feel better?? News is negativity....

Just drop it, and let the cops do their job. Who cares if you get hassled once in a while if its going to aid in keeping the city safer.

im against stereotyping, but profiling for the police does actually stop A LOT of crime, like so much you wouldnt believe. Granted if you start givin the cops shit when they pull you over like "OMFG U PULLED ME OVER FOR WHAT?! IM HARDCORE! WHAT? J00 ANGRY I DRIVE A HONDA?! FUCK J00 PIG!!!" or anything like that, yea they'll make it harder then the stop hasta be ;)

if you're polite i find they just check everything, and will say they're pulling you over for altezza's or a loud exhaust etc, but once everything is clean and if you've been polite, id day about 95% of the times they'll just say "okay im just going to give ya a warning"

I know some cops that come into my work from time to time, and they have been saying how gang violence and stuff, what used to be predominantly hells angels for bike gangs, has really quited down, and now alot of the new street crime is asian gangs. I dont mean to sound racist of any sort, im not like that. But i just am saying what i have heard, i dont understand , why now the big jump, cops dont even care bout the local red and white, which was a big big thing for the longest time.
