I'm looking for the opinion of people that have driven both of these cares more then once. Could you please provide your input and experience relating this two cars and why you would choose one over the other. Please keep in mind the following concerns:

1) Gas Milage
2)Price of a used one
3)Reliablity
4)Performance
5)Over all feel and best bang for your buck!

Thank you very much for your input.

S2000 hands down

The 2.2l S2000 feels really well balanced and polished. Plus it has a killer 6spd which probably has the best shifting feel of any car I have ever driven.

I found the 350 to be too rough around the edges and the finishing felt very cheap. It provides great performance but the ride was just ok, the driving position was poor it felt more like a truck then a car for everyday driving.

In that comparison 350Z beat out the S2000. Both have their advantages and disadvantages and I dont think you could say one over the other for sure. I think it's thing of personal preference. I'd take the Z myself, as I prefer torque in daily driving...

Road and Track did a comparo and picked the S2000 so it really is a wash.

It really comes down to preference. I like the finess feel of the S2000.

Id choose the S2000.
I dont really like the feel of the interior of the 350, plus you can really wind it up if you want too.

The S2000 interior looks cleaner, and more sophisticated.

I agree,

Most would say the S2000 is a better track car. I think the Z would be easier to live with in an urban environment though.

1) Being lighter and smaller engine, S2K should save a bit more gas when driven lightly. VQ35DE use a bit more gas on idle but both should be about the same if driven agreesively.

2) Assuming 350Z (not Roadster), an 03 would run you around mid 30s. An 03 S2K would run you in the high 30s/low 40s.

3) It treated equally well, both should be ok. But S2K is a better engineered machine and been on the road for 3 more years, so there should be less surprise. Nissan also cheaps out on all interiors of their cars (I own one), and if you can't stand the plastics, don't get in one.

4) Like every one said, the V6 should handle the day to day better with 350Z but S2000 would be a better track car. Both will commend attentions but Z is still pretty fresh being on it's 3rd year compare to S2K's 5th.

5) Resale value is better with S2K than Z. But given Z's performance and lower price, it gets better bang for bucks.

Im selling my 350z .. I put 8000kms on it from when i bought it almost brand new .... Its an awsome car.. Its got really good power i like the high torque , and the handling is very surprising... but its very heavy .. I just got bored of it.. i had more fun with my MR2 when i had it a few years ago.... S2000s are fun to drive , and they have better resale value.

I drove an S2K all summer, its a great car! Not so funwhen you have to do long trips, your bum gets a little sore...handling is amazing! IMO, its a good summer/weekend car...you need another car in the garage for days you want some more space and have to haul others around.

the following concerns:

1) Gas Milage --> S2000 is better
2)Price of a used one -- > a 02 S2000 vs a 03 350Z, both around low $30K
3)Reliablity --> S2000 is best rated sports car in this area
4)Performance --> close .. S2000 is slight better due to low weight etc ..
5)Over all feel and best bang for your buck! --> S2000

Thank you very much for your input.

However .... I like the 350Z more .. he he .. :dunno: may be it got newer look ?

But if that was my money, I will buy S2000 .. :D

My friend just got a brand new black S2000, and he let me take it out for a good hour the other day. Heres what i felt about the car.
The first thing youll obviously see is that the car is beautiful, especially with the new 17s that come stock, everyone was looking when i was driving it around, a definite head turner. Interior is VERY simple and refined, didnt feel cheap and everything was where it should be, you wont forget that your in a sports car, but that was a good thing IMO. Now onto the drive. The first thing i noticed when i started driving was that it drove EXACTLY like an RSX-S, and by that i mean that the shifter/tranny/tq curve all feel identical, but the S2000 obviously pulls a bit harder, but thats whens you hit 6200rpm. By no means am i saying its slow, but its no fun if you have to get to 6200rpm for it to actually start pulling (especially in the city). It was a lot better as expected, on the highway.
I havent driven the 350z cabrio, but my friend uncle owns one and took me for a good joy ride in it (dead stop on a main road, dropping the clutch at 6500rpm), and man that car was amazing, TONS of torque. I didnt feel that the interior was inferior to the S2000 in any way either, he had the orange leather with net inserts which i really liked.

So yeah, for me, 350z cabrio hands down. Just drive them both and see how you feel. I guarantee youll have funner driving the 350 tho.

S2000 for a few reasons.

-Better styling. I've never warmed to the 350Z styling while the S2000 still is a beautiful design.
-Better handling even if it compromises a comfortable ride.
-Honda reliability is tops while Nissan is below average at best.

no the s2000 is not one of the fastest cars, heck it cant even beat a srt-4 which costs way less....but the way it handles is amazing... i know some people would rather have torque which is a reason that the 350z is a really popular car.... but taking turns at amazing speeds without loosing control is awsome:drool:

I've driven both fair bit. In the city, I'd take the 350Z any day of the week. Hands down it is simply a better city car. AND - It's also better on the track (albeit marginally). That's reality. However, the S2000 has a delightful sound and sexy roar when it's being driven by someone in the know.

If I lived in the country, I'd have to consider the S2000 a little more seriously. The 350Z works well all over the RPM. The S2000 doesn't. Simple as that. If you want to make the S2000 work, it needs very high RPM. And it's loud as hell to do that. So, in the city, it's just an annoying car if you want to actually drive it like it should be driven.

Both these cars handle so well that it is unlikely the average driver has the skills necessary to find the limits of handling (without exceeding) and then declare which one is better. It is much easier to simply drive them both and decide which one is more suitable or makes you feel more comfortable. However, I doubt highly you'll ever push the envelope of handling limits under normal street driving.

At the track, while in a 350z Track edition [stock] (with moderate skill if I do say myself) - versus a S2000 with race rubber in experienced hands - the S2000 could not keep up to my 350Z Track Pack. Close, but no cigar.

I then let this very experienced (more than me IMO) driver take my Z on the track, and he was so impressed, he thought he may get rid of his S2000 for a 350Z. His comments were very simple and essentially highlighted that the 350Z's abundant torque gave the Z a clear and decisive advantage out of corners. An advantage that the S2000 could not overcome with a narrow and high RPM power band. Because the car doesn't work well with low RPM, it almost feels like turbo lag exiting a corner. (You've got to wait a split second for that power to kick in!) The 350z just goes like stink, no waiting for power due to lotsa torque.

There are other real track tests by professionals that saw the same result. The S2000 simply unable to overtake a 350Z on a track.

Anyhow...I believe both cars are excellent choices. It's not like you can make a wrong choice between these two. So, go for whatever one appeals to you most - and know you got yourself one fine automobile!

Just know the 350Z works quietly. The S2000 screams.

^my close friend has a 350z... we both think that the s2000 handles way better on a track then a 350z...around the corner... you would just drop the gear so that your up in the higher rpms...
you can feel the weight difference between the cars... the s2000 is more agile

but it is true the 350z is a better city car... s2000 is a very loud car
especially with the rag top.... the wind is very loud.. unbearable to some

especially with the s2000 having a very stiff ride... it has no luxury compared to the 350z

in different comparisons... magazines always have different opinions on which one is better, in this one s2000 is #1...
http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=15&article_id=6846&page_number=1

but i will say the s2000 isnt for everyone
