Do u mean, you are looking for a new 350 Z ( $50K ) or a used NSX ? ( $50 K for 91-94 )

We all like NSX more .... it is a nice super car, poor men Ferrari ... and nice looking ... however, money for a new 350Z, U can only get a ~15 yr old NSX .... (good one) and their performance are about the same ( 5.7 sec for 0-60mph )

Now if say you had the cash for either a 42 year old Porsche 911 with say 90,000kms on it being in good condition or a new Boxster which would you take ? :P

The 350Z is a bit of a dumb move financialy, sucks getting those new car depreciation hits...while acceleration times (to maybe 100mph) are similar, the NSX out handles, out guns, might still out brake and just out drives the 350Z. Nissan and the magazines might really pump up its sportiness, but you dont see anyone refering to them as a poor man's Porsche let alone Ferrari. How many NSX's do you see driving around? You could count in a day the number of 350Z's you'd see compared to NSX's in a month. And honestly, which would you vote most likely to get you road head?

Other than crash stats of NSX in the last decade being a bit undesirable , I would pick 91 NSX over Z if condition is almost new.

But given that you already own the Z and taken over $15K of depreciation already, financially, I'll just keep it.

I'd take the NSX. 350Z, like many other Nissans, is a trendy car. Once the trend dies, value will take a nose-drive. For a car that started off selling at $80k, 14 years later, and they still sell for $45k+. That's pretty awesome at keeping its value if you ask me.

LaughingTiger: Have you actually had a chance to drive an NSX (or atleast sit in one)?? I have on many occassions and, while the NSX is a great car, I never felt it was a comfortable car to drive in. I'm not a tall person (I'm about 5'9") and I felt cramped in the driver's seat. The bottom part of the dash rested right up against my shins and the pedals were positioned more closer together than I preferred. Sure, I understand it's a sports car and not a luxary car, but even then I think there should be some level of comfort when driving it. I guess it's more of a preference thing, but I prefer cars with a bit more room in the driver's seat. My suggestion would be to try and find one you can test drive before you make your decision.

So, you have a 350Z now, and want to get the NSX for weekend car ? or you want to trade for NSX ?

If you have your 350Z for a while, it is nice to move up to an NSX !

keep in mind you still have warranty on your 350z. The NSX is more then likely out of the warranty period :D

However all things equal, NSX

I read on another forum where that car had a hard time selling last year. Apparently it was a vehicle written off in New York and then brought into Canada and repaired (forget which order). Even then, there were still issues with the vehicle. It could be a different car, but the description matches almost exactly.

The NSX is a better car, but be prepared for maintenance costs that come with an older vehicle.

Will you ever track the car? If all it would be used for is daily city driving I think you're better off with a new Z then an old NSX. I would love one too, but it just wouldn't seem reasonable, unless you got to enjoy its full potentials somewhere...

if i were u i'd put 50K into something like an older C class benz (AMG of corse), or an older E55, both of which would be more powerful, better looking, and sharper than those cars u are contemplating....

now this is just me.....and its strictly IMO, so hold off on the urge to "flame" me, but when i see a NSX i see all show and no go, with the same ammount of money you can get a newer/faster car (only thing is it doesn't LOOK like a ferrari;) ) nsx looks way to fast for its own good, in the words of a great poet

well .. yes, you can get a 02-03 C32 for high $40K too and they are damn fast on straight .. but .. I am sure most people don't like automatic, and not everyone just want speed on straight road. :)

350Z because its more practical and less expensive...NSX is a pretty good car, but its ridiculously over priced. for the same price, i can get a new 911 if i wanted.

personally, IMO its a waste of money paying 142 000 on a honda.

LaughingTiger

I hear the NSX has one of the highest resale values .. I got my 350Z at a good price but it's been 2 years already and it's dropped alot.. This NSX will just be my weekend toy , like the 350z is now .. i have an SUV for day to day driving and winter ...

yeah and it's gotta be a standard .. thats why i stay away from mercedes.. I woulda got one a while ago.. but i hear in europe they make standard..

Yeah and that NSX for 19 grand is a scam... Unless u wanna deposit money into this guys account before u know who he is and u only have a e-mail and a phone number that just goes to a fax.. that ad was to good to be true.. im gonna spend $40-$50 on the NSX something will all service records and under 2 owners...

Thanks for helping me with the decision everyone

Hey man I know the NSX mechanic at one of the Acura dealers, he knows the ins and outs of that car and is heavily involved in the scene as he has an NSX as well.
Ill ask him if he knows of any clean cars in your price range that might be going up for sale in the near future. Another option would be to search the NSX forum classifieds and pick one up from the states or possible even Canada. Thats is where you'll find the cleanest well kept ones.

Wow, everyone is going for the NSX. If your going for the looks and something exotic go for the NSX.

I personally would go for the 350z anyday, the NSX is so over rated, the only thing good about it, is it's looks.... I raped one the other day with my bone stock srt-4 TWICE, you shoulda seen the look on the driver and passengers faces, absolutely priceless, beat by a neon.

A couple of guys here made a very good suggestion: test drive the NSX first. I bought a 944 Turbo with the intent of driving it for a while and then trading it off on an NSX. I've wanted an NSX ever since they first came out. I finally found one at a dealership and went for a test drive. Talk about the disappointment of a lifetime. It felt slower than my 944 Turbo and I didn't like the seating position. On top of that they wanted my 944 turbo and $30,000 more. The NSX is a sexy looking car but definately not worthy of all the hype that surrounds it in my opinion. Most of the rave reviews come from people who have never driven one. I honestly believe that after you test drive an NSX you will go running back to your 350Z.

I'd keep the 350z although the NSX is a very nice car. But it's a 91 and higher kilometers.

You already invested on your 350z, you'll just lose money if you get the NSX.
