How long has this been happening?? Sometimes bad wiring in your audio system can cause that, but like everyone's already said: check your alternator.

check your grounding of your wiring!

It can be many things, poor ground, bad RCA, dirty battery terminals. sometime if you run your RCA and power on the same route will cause this too, so check all this, 1 thing at a time.

It's called alternator whine. and I think that sr20det95 hit the nail on the head.

did you run the rca's down one side of the car, and the power down the other? or did you run them together? ....make sure they are sperate. check the ground at the chassis for the amp, this is usually the culprit specialy if it used to sound good before, it could have wiggled loose.

If you did happen to run the RCA's and power next to each other, I believe you can do a quick fix by taping them down such that whenever the two cables cross, they cross perpendicular rather than running next to each other.

i agree you must have a real good ground, you can also get a noise filter added in line to prevent the engine noise....change your ground first.

Damnit...same thing happens with me. I can hear my car through my stereo. I thought it was just cuz it's a tape deck. Guess Canadian Tire was right...:( New Alternator?

Try adding a choke if it's not a grounding issue. Might solve the problem.

The shielding on your RCA cables running back to your amplifier(s) is poor. Proper shielding will, in turn, give you better frequency response and less distortion.

I recommend mobile Monster cable, expensive (to consumers) but good shit at the end of the day! :)
