Now, there are actually a couple of problems with this laptop. First off the touchpad doesn't work and I have no idea why. I reformatted the computer and installed the drivers provided by HP but it still doesn't work. If you want I can give you my Microsoft Intellimouse Optical (5 buttons + 1 wheelscroll).

>>>The touchpad now works.<<<

The second problem is even weirder: for some reason when you do a hard boot (turning it completely off then back on) the USB ports don't work. The light on the touchpad doesn't light up either (it's a button that you can turn it on or off). You have to wait around 30 minutes for the touchpad light to slowly light up, then you'll be able to use the USB ports again without a problem. I'm always running on AC power, mind you. I rarely use the battery.

The battery can last for 3 hours, even when running graphic-intensive games. It can run Half-Life 2 with a decent framerate if you put it on the lowest 16:10 resolution with low-normal quality. It runs Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix (http://www.planetsoldier.com/) very well on 800x600 at normal-high quality (I can give you that for free as well if you wish). UT2004 also runs pretty well at 640x480 with normal quality.

If you're wondering why the RAM was newly replaced, that's because Compaq/HP had announced back then that some of the laptops they released had defective RAM, and mine happened to be one of them, so they mailed me the new RAM after I submitted my computer info to them.

This laptop is also perfect for watching movies with, since it has a 15.4" widescreen LCD.

This unit was bought in Aug 2003 for $2399.99. Since it has a couple of problems I wish to sell this at $1000 (now $800). As I said, I can provide the USB mouse if you want, as well as a Network Everywhere 802.11B Router that came with the laptop. I would recommend you to bring it to someone for a checkup though and see if the USB ports and touchpad problem can be fixed. I reckon it's power supply related.

I will accept cash, check or PayPal. If you're using a credit card via PayPal you will need to cover the 2.9% + $0.55 fee.

I will also do some cleaning on the laptop, including making the monitor look nice and shiny (I have a bottle of Monster ScreenClean that works wonders).

All manuals and bundled software are included.

I am also open to trade for a desktop, since I'm planning to buy one. I'm looking for something similar to this:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5163044305
(I'm trading the DVD-RW for an additional 512MB RAM if I'm to buy from this seller)

I see it is made to look like a Mac. What program is used to skin it like so, and is it included?

I knew someone would ask me that. xD

It's called FlyakiteOSX. If you like that visual style I could keep it as it is. I just formatted the hard drive yesterday, really, so there's not much of a reason to do so again.

I also installed all the necessary codecs and programs you'll most likely need, so you won't have to do any additional setup.

I took a pic of the laptop running the HDTV (16:9) version of Matrix Reloaded. It's just to give you an idea of what a widescreen movie looks like on this monitor.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/matrix.jpg

By the way, I also use the CRT monitor beside the laptop as a second screen. The laptop has a VGA-out so I can connect it to a projector or another monitor. It works wonders.

Ok, I'm also offering my laptop backpack for free if you buy my laptop for $950. It's in very good condition and perfect for carrying the laptop around. It also has extra padding inside to protect the laptop.

The bag contains many pockets, including 2 mini ones inside. Here are some pics of the bag:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/bag_01.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/bag_02.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v106/zerom3/bag_03.jpg

This bag wasn't cheap. It costed around $80 to buy.

So here's the summary of what I'm offering for only $950:

- The X1010 Laptop (with OS, manuals and software bundle)
- Laptop Backpack
- Microsoft Intellimouse Optical (optional)
- Network Everywhere 802.11B Router (optional)
- Most of the essential programs and codecs preinstalled for you (can request more)
- A spiffy OSX theme (including the dockbar) preinstalled for you (optional)

And just in case someone asks, I'm not gonna sell the bag seperately.

Also, please be careful when you go comparing my laptop to other ones in Futureshop or whatnot. Even if my laptop has a couple problems it still has a Centrino (not Celeron) 1.4Ghz processor, which is said to be able to perform the same as a P4 2.4Ghz; a 15.4" widescreen LCD screen that would always worth more than a conventional 15" screen, and a 32MB Mobility Radeon 9200, which performs much better than you would expect (even if it only has 32MB dedicated RAM). Don't even try to compare this graphics processor with the Intel Extreme Graphics one. Those suck salty chocolate balls.
I had a roommate who had a 64MB shared Intel Graphics processor on his laptop and he couldn't even play Midnight Club 2 properly. All the textures were garbled and stretched. I played it at 1280x800 resolution and it still had a better framerate than his. His laptop was a P4 2.0Ghz with the same amount of RAM as mine.

So the list of stuff I'm offering above is my final offer. I won't lower my price any further as this is the lowest I can go for offering so much.

Ok, my Microsoft mouse suddenly stopped working but my touchpad now works after I uninstalled the driver software I got from Compaq... so I guess it's a... good... thing? o_O

Alright... this is my absolute and final offer for the laptop only (along with the bundled software and power cord etc.): >>>$800<<<

A reminder that the touchpad does work now though I still recommend you to take it to a repair shop for a checkup on the USB ports.

Yeah, it's without the bag. I'm willing to give you the mouse though. Touchpads are damn annoying to use, IMO.

No thanks. I'm aiming for an Athlon 64 desktop and I already have a DVD burner and 17" monitor (a really good one, I might add).

Oh, I totally forgot to mention that I will accept check and PayPal as well. If you're gonna use credit card via PayPal though I will require you to pay the 2.9% + $0.55 fee.

In other words:

- Cash or Check = $800
- PayPal (non-CC) = $800
- PayPal (CC) = $800 + (2.9% + $0.55) = $823.75

Note that the PCMCIA card you see there is my 802.11G card. I will be selling that seperately once my laptop is sold. The laptop itself has a built-in 802.11B card, as stated in my first post.
