I was driving exactly 1 month ago and i was following the regular speed limit and i see a cop behind me, i think theres no problem because im doing my limit. So he puts on his sirens and pulls me over, i ask whats the problem and he notifys me that my registration has been expired for 1 month. I was unaware of this because my dad has been out of town for 2 months so i need a good reason to fight this ticket, the next day i paid for new registration only cost me 60$ while my ticket is 230 :(

isnt there a law that if you can provide registration within 1-3 days (forget exact number) then you can void the ticket?

he did not have valid registration at the time of the ticket... if it was like that, you could drive around with out getting registred till you got a ticket, then just cough up the 60$

Why are you fighting the ticket? It's obivious that the registration was expired as you renewed the next day. Beeing oblivious to when your registration is expired is your problem. Sounds like a valid ticket to me.

go downtown and talk to the CP, maybe he'll cut you some slack or something. at the very least they'll probably extend your payment date.

Get your dad to pay it. Sounds like he normally takes care of your cars registration..

That happened to me too. But i was told to fax in proof of registration within 14 days and there would be no problem.
Maybe the Cpl was being nice to me?

It's always up to the cop's discretion.

Yeah, talk to cp and get it down a bit. I guess you'll take a look at the sticker on plate closer before you get into car now.

I received a registration ticket last year cause i thought the registration expired 1 year from the day you register your car... But apparently the day it expires depend on your first two characters of your last name.......

But anyways i spoke to the Crown prosecutor and he brought the ticket down to 115..

That's strange, I'm L and mine expires in May I believe. So I guess there's no logical order?:dunno:

According to the traffic act, it's as follows.

A January | Me December
Av July | N May
B March | O December
Be July | P November
C May | Po September
Ci June | Q February
D April | R August
E August | S October
F September | Sc June
G April | Sz July
Gr August | T September
H June | U January
I January | V July
J January | W December
K November | X January
Ke January | Y March
L July | Z July
M February

It's hard to read....I put spaces but it doesn't show up.

Does anybody know how does this site works? You need the 2006 stickers and the new slip so how would you get those.

You guys make it sound like the CP is one hell of a good guy, and he is much more reasonable that the cops out on the streets -

^ Its only a matter of the crown having more matters on the docket than he/she is able to run trials for in a day.

It is the judge, mind you, that extends time-to-pay, not the crown.

i think u were unlucky, because in most cases i've heard they give u a couple days to go to the station and show them that you've bought new insurance or registration

^ Nope - its your responsibility to have that with you whenever you are driving, not just to produce it at your leisure.
