I think the big deal is that TECHNICALLY, Area 51 does not exist..according to the US gov't..haha

saw a show on TLC about some guy that is researching Area 51. He went to some commercial sattalite company and through stereotopic photographs was able to build a 3d fly-through of the area. I think the US government has known for some time that these sattalite pictures exist.

i just think those bumps that the guy mentioned are either nuclear testing facilities or nuclear dismantelling facilties...do you guys honestly believe that there are some aliens in area 51?:poosie:

this is very cool indeed, not this area 51 shit, but the fact that you can actually access satleite images for free, and its open to the public!.....

anyone know when they will update the pictures tho.....like i know for a fact that these images are over 2 yrs old......and when will we see better resolution?

Ever wonder if the US gov't made area 51 just so everyone would speculate about it, when in fact they really have some other shit that everyone doesnt know about. I find it hard to believe that they would say this place doesnt exist when they knew people could easily find these images of it. I dont know, it is the US gov't, and as much as i hate them and their foriegn policy, I still think they are smarter then this.

Oh and yea looking at Calgary is pretty sweet. Too bad you can only go into great detail around the downtown core and surrounding area. The NW is all blurry.

There not two years old, not the ones in Calgary anyways. I reconize some condo buildings that are up that were not up before 2003.
Anyways the NW isn't worth high resolution, so give it up! Southside!

It's pretty recent, anyway. I zoomed in on my parents house, and I think I can see my old car parked in the driveway..

Wrong-o! If you zoom in on the buildings in that shot, you can see that the shadows are falling to the north, as they should anywhere in the northern hemisphere. The shadow pattern on those bumps shows dark in the southern part, and light in the north - opposite of what you would expect for something raised up above the ground, like the buildings.

Those "bumps" are actually craters. We're used to light falling from "above", so we interpret "top in light - bottom in shadow" as a bump, rather than a depression, even when that's not actually the case.

Although I would like to agree with you on all of it, I can't. Take a look at some of the patterns that the 'craters' have. They are in way to of an acurate pattern, they have to be man made. Other than that, some of them are indeed craters. If you take a closer look, some of those 'craters' have air vents. :) Its a mix and match of craters and bunkers.

The 'bumps' look like underground explosive testing...

The shacks are probably for instrumentation.

The green circles are weird though...

Circles represent crops and the rotation of the sprinkler.

Some of the pictures are before 2003 though. In the NE in Monterey (By co op) those condos were started at least 3 years ago. And by those satellite pictures of that area they are in the process of construction. It just seems like they are a compilation of pictures over different periods of time.

i dunno my house is in tha inner core ...elbow park (sw close to the glencoe)..and a house that went up like 3 yrs ago isn't there...and another lot that they made into 2 houses back 2 yrs ago is still one house....so they must be relatively old..

the interchange/overpass for midnapore/macleod trail isn't ther and the ctrain line doesn't go past fish creek as well.

Anyone look for the World Trade Center? Pretty neat to see the site where they used to be. Type up Manhattan NY and look at the lower west side of the island and you'll see it.

Also neat to look at is the main strip of Vegas. You can see all the hotels and their features.

Updating those takes forever, from what I see, they will probably go around the world before they start over again.

High resolution is out there, but it costs money, sometimes major money. Oil companies can get up-to-date satalite images ordered for pipeline construction and such but it isn't cheap, there most liekly isnt going to be any resolution changes for the public on googles site.

Yea i have watched some program on discovery where they were looking at how satellite imagry tech has evolved over the last few years. There is satellites out there that can read a newspaper headline sitting on someones deck. In real time none the less. Like what was said above people can buy this info but it is pricey and you have to jump through certain hoops just to get it.

why are there dirt roads leading to these "craters"?

and maybe its morning thats why the shadows are different
