hi everybody!
I turned 16 a couple months ago and I need to start looking for my first car. I was wondering what everyones oppoinion is.... I need a car that is AWD or a car that is known for performing pretty well in the snow since I live in Westchester NY. The highest price should be around 30k-35k. I am also looking for a car that performs well, and has a sleek look. I have some experience with fast cars from my brother who used to have a Turbo Lexus IS300. After my first ride in his car I was bitten by the car bug.:D
Thanks and look forward to learning more about cars!

Hi, thanks for such a quick response but the only draw back I have on the subaru is the interior. But you gotta love that STI!!:burnout:

hmm 30 - 35k US? I would look into an EVO as well... and if your a dash stroker and care alot about interiors then a Golf R32 might fit your bill, but it's not as fast as an evo or an sti.

Make sure you don't help the young unresponsible driver stereotype by racing on the steets.

Everything I see a 16 yr old kid who is full of himself and no fear getting anything over 200HP I cringe.

If you dont like the interior of the subaru , then you wont like the EVO eather LOL ... Hrm good sleek car for a new driver , how about a G35? WRX?

Yeah, I really like the R32 and the G35....the only draw back to the G35 is that its back seat is so small. One other car I really like is the Merc c32 AMG but I dont know how people would react to a mercedes as my first car.....

I am not really looking into a race car....more like a car that can go while still having luxury
Is the R32 easy to modify?

you should never get that fast of a car as your first car. you shouldn't even be considering it to be honest. a base wrx or R32 would still be a little too fast for a beginner driver but at least the AWD will help with control. the best advice i can give you would be to be patient with gettin your own car (i'm 19 now and still planning on waiting 2 more years or so) or if you can't drive your parents car, get something used that you can really hone your driving skills with. it would be a damned shame to make an inexperienced mistake with an expensive car and muck it all up. hope you'll consider this, good luck.

Just make sure that you are or know a transmission rebuilder if you buy a 5-speed WRX.:D

When I was 16 I made $5.50/hr and drove an 81 Chevy Malibu.

I saved my money and bought a house when I turned 23 instead of having nothing in the bank and a 7 year old car behind the apartment.

When I was 16 I made $7.00/hour and drove a 73 Chev Nova. I had to wait two years to get a decent looking car, and its still slow.

There are a few mods for em but they're insanely expensive (ex. HPA twin turbo converisions are around 20k) but with the 3.2 VR6 your basically stuck with just doing suspension mods and stuff like that unless you want to turbo it or something. Also I believe all the new R32's are sold out in the states and the only chance you'll be able to get one is to get a used one. I would also look into the A3 once it comes out with the 2.0T those engines are easy as hell to modify.

I think I have ruled out WRX because I see too many kids my age driving them trying to show off....and they just look ridiculous and I dont wanna turn out like that.
To the person who said A3 I have to say that thing is pretty ugly
I could also get a b5 S4 my older brother just got one, but I want to try and be different.

My parents are buying the car for me, and in all honesty they do not know that much about cars. So they think anything sub 20k is too crappy and unsafe for me to drive :drama: (I know that sounds weird). So that basically rules out all those old cars. Anyways thanks for all your help everyone.

Don't put any money into your car, it will be wasteful. Invest it, spend it doing something useful or saving it up. I know it sounds stupid, but I'm probably the richest-ass teen on Beyond:rofl: and I know where you're coming from...

I;m a full time student as well (3rd year Geology). I pay for school and also for my car. I work 30+ hours a week (during school) to support my car habit. Oh and it is an addiction! So all you guys crying about being a student keep whining. Wha wha... My vote is for the EVO

Gotta say for a 16 year old who is gonna be getting a ton of cash thanks to his parents, hes got a good attitude,

I dunno what to suggest for a car, how about a Volvo like the S60, good power, nice looking car, AWD, and Volvo are known to be one of the safest cars around, only down side is unless you get the S60R, you will have to have an Auto tranny, other than that how about an SUV?
