Anyone here have a 2000+ tdi golf of jetta.

How common is burning out a turbo.
I am thinking of buying a 2001 tdi jetta but the guy's turbo siezed, I guess from not cooling it off properly.. ?

Also what kind of power are you guys running on the stock block, and how much before you starting blowing holes through pistons/blowing head gaskets?

I've got a 2002 with 65000k on it already, runs like it was brand new.

^bleh, 144k on my 2001 playa :D no problems yet but my MAF is gone and its definately time to clean up the intake gunk. Will be repaired once I come back to Calgary and will report back with results :D (I'm only getting around 750km per tank in city driving and performance absoleutly sucks, basically planning on spending a day on repairs/cleaning to make this thing run like new again)

bart is selling a used turbo with 15000k on it, you may consider purchasing it from him.

also, regarding your questions about performance, bart is putting out something like 120+hp/~250ish torque from what I remember and that is all on stock internals.
