What should I do?

Ok for almost 2 years now I have been driving my dads car, Nissan Sentra 2001 XE. Today he told me that he wants to sell the car because he cant afford it anymore and offered to sell it to me for $5,000 dollars. It has about 75k on it.

So it's either I buy his car from him or I buy my own car. There are a few things I'd want to change about his car if I did buy it such as put on some tints, a spoiler and a decent sound system and a tachometer. The thing I dont like about his car is that it's got no power =/. Theres like no acceleration because it's the basic model.

I know alot of you are probably like who cares if it has no power, but I dunno I kinda want to have a decent accelerating vehicle. If I do buy his car it will probably be another 4 years before I can get a car I like. So what would you guys do in my situation?

um...buy the car, and then sell it right away...you'll get more than 5k for it, i think.

well the dealership told my dad they would give him about $6,000 for it but he'd sell me it for $5,000. So I should take it? How much extra you think it would cost me for the rest of the changes? The Tints, Spoiler and tachometer?

A tach shouldn't be more than $100. A spoiler... around $300. Tints are around $200 for the back and all the sides from 3M Trimline.

If you can find a better car for $5k, then tell your dad to sell his car to the dealership. Otherwise, buy it off him.

buy it and sell it a week later you should get around $10,000 or more for it than u could buy a decent car with that money or add a bit more and buy a even better car.:thumbsup:

Shit. I thought Nissans had a good resale value. In any case man buy it and sell it right away. I mean if you can do without a car for a while. In this you are SURE to make atleast a Grand right? I mean the dealership said that, so you have no risk at all. Plus you can try selling it private and make something more outta it.

If my parents ever sold me a car for cheaper then it was worth, and I sold it soon after they would want the money back. I dont know if your dad is any different... but if he cant afford the car right now he will proably want your profit.
Either way thats a great deal... I would definitly but it if I were you. Great commuter car that wont cost you a whole lot to keep going (since its a 2001), excellent gas mileage, and while you drive that you can save for other things.

ya if I buy it I wont sell it, thats just rude and my dad would probably want the money for it. Atleast I'd keep it for a few years and add those mods I was talking about and maybe sell it 2 years later or something then he wont be so mad.

I guess for the time being it would be a good car. Until I turn 25 then maybe ill get something better.
