Ok i am chnaging the water pump on a 89 honda civic.. its got the 1.5L 16v engine.. I need to know if the Crank Pulley Bolt is a reverse thread or not. I have talked to several people, and get diffrent answers

it has held me up for 3 days and i can not get the damm thing off.. I need to take it off to take the pully off just to take the damm timing cover off, then its a snap!.. thanks guys

I believe its counterclockwise, some people say don't use an impact, I say its ok. There is a special tool if u don't want to use an impact. You should be able to rent one from part source if nobody has one to lend you.

Ya, u need a good impact with lotsa air pressure. You could try oiling yours, sometimes that makes a HUGE difference. This is what the crank pully socket looks like, use a breaker bar with it.

yes, you need a air impact.. it's something like 130 ft lbs

Well it finaly came off.. Had to take it to a shop.. told the guy i was puting on an aftermarket pulley and need him to break the seize.. any way.. took 720ft/lbs of reverse torque to get it off.. the gun he used was as big as the engine..he was lauging so hard at how much it took

hmm........720ft/lb cant be good for the crank/bearings....I would replace the bolt for sure.......check the threads in the crank too with the new bolt.

No its all fine.. actually the car now runs better than before.. the reason that the bolt took so much to remove is becuase the engine overheated and changed the metal sizes.. but its all good now.. had to put a new crank key on though as the other was a little bent..
