Lots of quality problems with those models. Actually, tons. They aren't made like they used to be.

Dude, I thought a guy who sells commodities that APPRECIATE in value would know enough not to buy ones that DEPRECIATE! :D

So, you sold the max, are selling the C230 and are buying an american-built Mercedes? I just don't get ya anymore lol....

The GLI is a cool car, but why don't you keep the C230 for you and buy her the ML?

cause we are building a half milion dollar home, and want cheaper car payments....guess with age iam getting pratical.

i drive like 50-100km a day i need someting good on gas (sure could went TDI) the plan is to have 2 cars for about 750 a month, then pay the cars off within a year. We are planning on buying a 16 unit apt building next summer. thats why we are sort of re-structuring right now. make sense?

That 7 series would have nickel and dimed you to death anyways in maintenance costs .

yeah, i took that into consideration..i just wanted somthing nice looking, that was good on gas and reliable. i think the gli is a decent car and if u knew what i paid for it, iam sure all of you would have jumped on it.

I have an 01 GTI VR6, i've had it for just over 2 years, 40K when I bought it, 79K now... 0 problems... just gas and oil changes...

I'm sure you won't have any problems unless you really beat the shit out of it day in and day out.

Enjoy, you'll love the car, I know I sure as hell love mine and for the price there's not another car that is as nice and fun to drive.

Good luck with the nice sounding house. I wish I could afford at least a one unit apartment. hahaha... thats what you get for being 19 I guess.
Let us know how the reliability of the Jetta goes, I like the look of the VW's but cant bring myself to buy one cause I need a car that I know will not break down.

iam kinda lost about this Vw reliability crap...ive got like 3 friends with jetta's ranging from a 1997-2004 and none have had any problems..maybe you guys need to learn how t maintain a car properly and how to no beat the shit out of it.

I know I have just eard stories as well. Have a couple of friends that have VW's and they love them. Plus I linger on VWvortex forums and they all have little problems (mind you its a VW enthuiast site)

But are you gonna drive your customer around in a Jetta?

Feels kinda cramped.

That's such bullshit. Own one and you'll know. You don't. So naturally. It's hearsay you're repeating.

Ive owned 4 Dubs

and the only one that EVER let me down was my 2001 GTI

Anyways

If you want the carfax for the car I have it

I was looking at the car, and didnt buy it, cause it was from TO....

When I looked at the A-arms, there was ALOT of surface rust...
but I guess for $19K you could still get them replaced, and still come out ahead

I have that identical car only with less KM and more mods... I love it and you just can't go wrong with VR6 Power.

EDIT: and I have had NO problems with it whatsoever in the 3 years I have owned it. Don't let these dicks scare you off.

Considering I just bought a car, and I came very close to buying a Golf until I researched them, it's not bias. Besides, this thread is about a new car, not about VW quality. There's tons of those around here.

EDIT: This post was in response to a paragraph Weapon_R had posted. He apparently deleted it.

I'm not a DJ nor will I be a DJ anytime soon. Although I appreciate you're optimism.

If you don't own a car you say is unreliable, then don't comment. Just because a car critic has a bad experience with a particular model of car made by a particular manufacturer doesn't mean they are all defective. Do you stop yourself from a seeing a movie you've eagerly been anticipating for years because a week before the movie comes to the big screen a critic calls it garbage and not worth you're money? You may love it. You may hate it. But you have to experience it first hand for a proper evaluation. I have owned three Volkswagens over the period of 5 years. A 2002, 2003 and a 2000. I should be a fair judge of the cars reliability over such a period of time. Would you agree?

I gotta agree with Redlyne also on the nickle and diming. The 7 series was really nice, but i think you'll be happier with the newer VW you chose.. It's not a forever decision anyway, one day you'll upgrade or whatever.

The older the vehicle, the more potential problems you'll run into. That much is obvious. Good choice man. :bigpimp:
