Sound like a crazy idea. Would anything happen to the aerodynamics of a car if you chopped it's roof off?

the structural integrity of the car would be gone, and the body would likely twist like a pretzel

i am pretty certain the aerodynamics would be considerably less with the roof chopped off.
and like finboy said, great sacrifices in structual integrity would result.

Umm, would you be leaving the windshield on?
It would fuck up the aerodynamics either way. One way (windshield on), you would create a huge area of turbulence right behind the windshield, the other way, you would create this large turbulent area inside of your car, well that, and get bugs in your teeth when you drive :)

I'd be leaving the windshield on. How about if I put like a rollbar type thingy? or sway bar like things across the body?

I remember seeing a pos 70's mercedes in the middle east with the roof cut off and the doors off, but he had a like a roll cage thing holding it all together

it would help, but aerodynamics would still be less. especially at high speeds.

It's not gonna be hitting the Deerfoot or anything. Just something to drive around the community and rice out. (It can get boring around here haha)

My friend did it to his DSM. i believe the doors are welded with the body now... he casnt driven it yet, but he cut the windshield, and the roof is off.... I'm pretty sure they thought it through, but not sure what their plan is.

Thats why Del Sol's are so goddamn heavy, to make up for lack of support in the roof. Haha Del slo.

I had a buddy cut the roof off of his old '86 (?) Mazda 626 hatchback. He left the windshield on. He is a bit of a moron, so he drove it around for a bit like that. It was a spur of the moment thing... he was bored and decided to have fun with his old car.

With metal

You just weld more support around the cockpit to hold it together better. More beams across, etc.

I love convertibles, but not enough to scalp a regular car.
