It will be a 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC. 4 speed auto is gone.

Possibly no torque converter either.

It will be called the X15R and is capable of handling 430 lb.-ft. of torque.

Gear Ratio RE Final DR
1 4.027 2.56 10.309
2 2.364 2.56 6.052
3 1.532 2.56 3.922
4 1.152 2.56 2.949
5 0.852 2.56 2.181
6 0.667 2.56 1.708

4 to 7 % better performance than existing Automatics?

1 to 4 % better fuel economy.

For comparison, here are the 6 speed manual numbers:

MN6
Gear Ratio RE Final DR
1 2.660 3.42 9.097
2 1.780 3.42 6.088
3 1.300 3.42 4.446
4 1.000 3.42 3.420
5 0.740 3.42 2.531
6 0.500 3.42 1.710

wow finally gettin rid of the ancient 4 speed auto, but i am a little concerned about the part that states "is capable of handling 430 lb.-ft. of torque." that seems like a pretty low torque capacity

Also the new automatic is supposed to give 3/10ths better 0-60 times. Possibly better than the M6.

That torque rating is designed for 200,000km+ lifetime at that number. it doesn't mean that you can't put much more power through it. It really depends on the safety factor and service life used for the design. Every tranny in every car is only designed for slightly higher than stock torque input.

The "-" is on the bottom of the steering wheel spoke that has the "+".
