Compressing MP3's

hey guys

i was wondering what software anyone on here with an mp3 player uses to compress their songs down quickly and put them onto their mp3 player, all my songs (off my own cd's of course) are pretty high quality, and i was wondering if there was some sort of software out there (preferably free) that acts as smthn that recompresses any songs i send to the mp3 player...thanks

i use dBpower Amp music converter....it has lots of plug ins for A LOT of diff. music file types that other converters don't...and it also does compressions
