:banghead: Well looks like my 6 month old Hard drive is gone, it was causing problems for months. When I got it fixed a month ago it was fine. So it fucked up again last night, took it back to PC World, guy said it's gone he said if I fix it again it'll go out again and he will have to charge me another 20 quid for fixing it again. It has "bad clusters". :banghead:

I also bough tit from Canada now I'm in the UK. AND to make things even more fucking crap as it is. I don't have the book or anything that came with it, I can't find it.:banghead:

I know it comes with 1 year warranty (it should anyway). So does this mean I’m screwed because I don’t have the box or manuals or whatever came with it (I don’t even know what came with it).
OR am I ok because I still have my Memory Express Receipt and Invoice.
FYI, it’s the Seagate 200GB Barracuda 7200.7 Serial ATA 8MB Cache.

Also, when I was asking about this a few months ago on Beyond, some people said some companies actually ship a new one and then let you ship your old broken one to them, they also pay for it (I think that was said too). Is that true?

Sorry for the long BS I posted. Does anyone have a contact number or website where I can find out how to get it shipped and/or if I can get this done in the UK? I’m looking right now but just wondering if anyone has a link sitting around. Thanks a lot.

Maybe poking around here will help :dunno:
http://support.seagate.com/customer/warranty_validation.jsp

I think all Seagate drives have a 5 year warranty or something. Good luck!

If it's only 6 months old, it's mostlikely still covered under the manufacturerer's warranty. Those warranties apply anywhere on the planet, you just have to find out where to take the thing.

Yeah you should be covered under that 5 year warranty that Kamen mentioned. You can check the link to make sure that drive is covered but it most likely will be. So you will need to eventually ship your HDD back to them and I believe they will refurbish it. I have a failed 160 GB seagate drive that I am going to be sending back also real soon, but I haven't quite got around to it yet.

hrmm it might not be covered because when you got it repaired the first time from that guy he might have taken it apart and void the warrenty

yeah go straight though Seagate, memory express won't really be able to help you. I think you'll be fine.

As an aside, why did you move to the UK?

Thanks for the very quick responses guys. Friend of mine showed me the link right before I posted this. I am under the 5 Year Warrenty. I'm going to ship it to them and they'll give me another one.

I'm just sad cause last Thursday I had used up all my 186GB and screen shotted it haha (I was so proud!) . It wasn't full of porn lol. All albums, movies and tv shows. Gues sI'm going to loose all that now. :thumbsdow

 Uni (mostly) and family, it's been nothing but shit and stress since I been here. Hopefully it changes once I'm settled it.

I know what you mean. I was pretty choked when my drive quit on me. I had my 160 GB drive pretty much full also, and all my good tunes, and Anime series were completely gone.

It's a pain too because last month I had a no limit download with my internet. But now I'm back to the crappy 15GB limit. I went mad last month and downloaded atleast 75GB of movies and music.

I could get the guy at PC World to fix it for the 20pounds ($50 CDN) and then back it up, but it's a waste of money really.

memory express can help you... but you have to get the drive back to Calgary.

Your best bet is to verify warranty status of the drive (to make sure seagate UK will warranty a north american drive) by going here:

http://support.seagate.com/customer/warranty_validation.jsp

and then follow the instructions on getting the drive replaced.
