Do they deal with Quinn too?

Does curbsider Stan get charged for rolling back the odometer?

Is there any doubt that used automobile sales is the most crooked run business this side of a Liberal run government.:thumbsdow

92 Integra is completely repainted, with lots of body filler. No extra fees

I looked at this car and the guy told me it was never repainted. One of the fog lights was a different brand (odd) and the doors were a slightly different color than the door jambs.

I'm going there tonight to ask a few questions.

I know someone who just recently purchased a 1.7EL from a small dealership, forgot what the name was.
Anyways he had to trade in his car plus another $3000 cash ontop to a total of $14,000 for the car.
He later went home and found a piece of paper jammed really far back in the glove box and it was some reciept from Silverhill so he went there to check the vehicles history to find the odo rolled back A LOT (cant remember how much but the price difference on the war was $6000)
Police said they couldnt do anything so he was sent to some investgator and they're going to court now.
Shouldnt they be arrested and put out of business for fraud?

I haven't done business with them or even checked them out. I looked at some of their ads and it looks like they get their cars from eastern auctions cheap and bring them over here since Calgarians seem to like paying 20% more than the rest of the country for their used cars. Do they also have questionable business ethics?

I wonder what they would have found at Farmer Jonez.

a few years ago I was driving by and saw a mid-80's Jag XJ6. Decided to check it out, turned out they it had no ebrake, parking pin was broken off in the tranny and I couldnt hear it run or test drive it. Quality vehicles at that stealership!

Yeah its too bad that they only did 20. Is nice to see that they went to both the franchise stores as well as the little lots.

Would be a wicked jon to go listen to the lying cheating salespeople and then going back and watching them suck their own toes.

I watched that W5 episode and Calgary was the best in all the country! I think Toronto was the worst! I couldn't believe some of the sleaze bags they caught on camera. Having said that, anyone who would actually trust one of these guys based strictly on appearance (yes I'm stereotyping) let alone give them money has it coming to them.

Fraud isn't taken very seriously by the police or courts. I had one client who had over $200,000 stolen by their CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and the police wouldn't investigate. It was going to cost the client about $40,000 for a proper investigation from their accounting firm and PI's, but there was still no guarantee the Crown would prosecute. So, they took it as a learning experience and moved on.

Even when the Crown does prosecute and win, often the guys get off with just a fine. It seems like our jail system is reserved pretty much for the violent criminals...

The best someone can do is file a civil suit in the case of the rollback and hope for the best.

I don't understand why people don't get a dealeship to pull the service history every single time they are seriously looking at a late model used car. It doesn't cost you anything, takes about 2 minutes for the phone call, and can either confirm that it has either been reasonably well maintained or you should stay away.

Because you want them to go to a large dealer and get raped in a different way? (costs added here and there)

Sport Tech Auto?

I bought a car from there back in 2004, a 1992 Integra. Dealt with the owner, Darren I think was his name. Nice enough guy. I test drove the car and then came back to buy it. I was a student at the time and was suprised that he would not budge on the price. I sold my other car and gave him predated cheques for the difference since I was not approved for credit because of being a student.

The battery kept dying right after buying it, he had me take it in to "Fred" at a mechanic's shop down the road, they through in a new battery. Darren never asked for any money, so I was happy.

About 6 months later the car started doing funny stuff, mostly in the electronics (i.e. power windows started crapping out, sunroof only worked sometimes...etc). I think he had fixed it up quite a bit, because at closer inspection I noticed from the inside of the door, it looked to have been painted over.

Anyways, had a feeling that it might have been salvaged. Mechincally it was sound, so I didn't get too bent out of shape. But because of that, I became much more weary when buying used cars. I guess I'm lucky that nothing major happened.
