I just got a notice in the mail that my insurance will be going up by $400 per year. Has anyone else had their rates go up recently? My broker said that they were all going up. Wondering if anyone else has had this happen recently.

Mine has gone up by about $50. Not too significant. I got my notice to register my car...it's now at $68.49.....never understood how they come up with these figures.

The registration fee's are done REALLY WIERD. They go by the first letter your last name starts with and the lower down you go, the higher it gets.

When I renewed my insurance, I had a completely clean record yet it had gone up $20 per month. When I phoned and asked why, they told me it was because of Sept 11 which I thought was BS. My insurance company is canadian, it has nothing to do with this.

Registration just went up like half a year ago...no fair if you ask me

I heard from a lot of people that insurance rates were going up as high as 30%! Mine renews in June so we'll see.

And I think it was July 1 they raised the registration fees. My dad got his truck in June and he paid for registration until Jan 04, I got my car in June and the new fees were already in effect :dunno: :banghead:

I renewed mine in September. The company I was with at the time raised my premium by 490 dollars. I called and bitched, they blaimed it on Sept11. I said fine, dont renew my premium, I dont wish to continue being a client with them. They said they could give me the same rate I had last year, I said no thanks.

I turned around, called up another Company, my rate is HALF of what my renual was from the company I had been with, so I dont care what anyone says...Insurance Comanies will charge whatever and mostr people will pay it. It pays to shop around.

I am a big advocate for anti insurance fraud as well, those bastards are just jacking up our rates as well.

Insurance rates are going up.....settlements are crazy, for every $1 insurance takes in, it pays out $1.25 according to the Calgary Sun. Anyway, we all know at least 1 person that in one way or another has scammed or attempted to scam their insurance company for a little more money

Who was your initial company, and now who is your current (if you dont mind me asking)?

Does anyone have anything good to say about Statefarm?

Mine went up by $150/year.. and for a girl that is a big thing.. but they gave me the same reason as above(because of 9/11). And my registration also went up.. what a crock.

I'm not sure if there are any more, but I pretty sure TD insurance hasn't gone up (and won't be expected to). Can't remember why, but the whole 9/11 fiasco doesn't effect their insurance rates.

i'm w/ statefarm and thought i dont have a car under my name yet i asked for some estimate and it was about 3200/year for Matrix XRS, 3300/year for 00' Jetta and 3600/year for a 92 Stealth TT... not bad i guess.. this is back when i was 17.. well now im 18 so haha

my sister had about 5 accidents in the last 3 years and her insurance is now 3800/year.. but im surprise they will still insure her..

Damn Straight, you know whats going on. I couldn't find anyone who could beat TD...They beat the next closest quote by 600 bucks when I was doing my renual last sept.

They were also super nice and have great hours (open on SATURDAYS!)

I dont plan on leaving them anytime soon. Also have a motorcycle under them as well, they were half as much as the previous company...3xx something a year on a 25000 bike aint bad.

Most girls are very bad drivers...and this is coming from a girl

What girls lack in the macho "will beat anything on 4 wheels" mentality, they make up for in "oops, is that the break or the gas?" or "I swear there wasn't a car there when I looked behind me"

I'm not knocking myself here, or any of the other girls on this board, but guys take the interest in cars...it's drilled into them since childhood to appreciate stuff like that. Because of that "appreciation" they get big heads, go fast and wreck cars...thus the high insurance.

I was taught to appreciate what I work for and I worked hard to get my car. I was taught how to drive by men and I honestly think that's a huge asset to me. Add the good characteristics that women do have behind the wheel (concentration, peripheral vision ect) and you can have a pretty great driver in any girl.

I don't think women's insurance should be higher, cause well, paying more sucks ;), but men's should definately come down to be equal with ours

Just my $0.02

www.kanetix.com

Get the number they give you at the end, and then call TD with it. It is usually quite accurate - within a few dollars.

It's alright, I'm with them. About the same rates as TD, but I think TD has slightly better rates.
