if you plan on going with an rb series engine, bump it up to a rb25 with 260hp (10 hp less than the rb26dett). its basically the same swap as a rb20 but its most intense costs $750 more than an sr20 swap as well.

i'm not totally sure on what the power difference is between the rb20 and sr20, but i think sr has 205hp , and rb has 210hp (around there). someone correct me on this.

ya right, id way rather mod a sr20det, the rb25det is alot more work and money, and not worth all the trouble
if you are going big go for the rb26dett :bigpimp:

red tops came in older silvia/180sx's(200sx's i guess) i believe from 91-93?then the blacktops came in the s14 and s15 silvias and 93 and up 180sx's(200sx again, heh)
power changed too i believe between the red and black top sr20 and s15 blacktop. and the turbo are diffrent aswell on s15, im to lazy to get into ALL the details but thats the main idea.
this all assuming that in 94 the s14 model came out in japan because usdm is one year behind or w/e:)

im thinking of selling the teg next year and then swaping a 240 cause i want a faster car thats rwd, that can be done for less than the price of selling my teg, so i have money left over for mods

Pretty much. Its just a safety mod. Only 10psi of boost on a non FMIC then too...

Its fine. Drove mine almost two whole winters. Reliability, no problems except for initial fixes if it gets damaged on boat. Crank angle sensor, oil pan, water pump, power steering. Usually not a problem...

You're only interested in the rwd sr20 red/black tops. Forget about the gtir and bluebird motors.

Redtops are inexpensive and easy to come by, s13 blacktop's are essentially the same except in most cases they have less km's due to it being a newer motor. S14, and S15 blacktops have bigger turbos and a variable valve timing system, hence the different shaped valve cover. If you want specific specs (power/torque etc) on each motor do a search, it's been covered a few times now.
