Speeding doing 110 in a 50 (suposidly)

Ok so I was driving home on memorial just past 36th and I was tired and in a hurry to get home and pissed off when i saw deerfoot was closed so i was crusin, so i was stoped at the light on memorial-deerfoot for a bit (1-2min) when a cop pulls up behind me (no lights on or anything). So I am like whatever he couldnt have seen me so i proceed through the light driving normal and then almost at the zoo he flashes on his lights. So i pull over yada yada he asks for lic,ins & reg then then as hes walking away hes like btw i pulled you over for speeding.

So he comes back hands me a ticket (yellow $177 doing 110 in a 50 clocked) for speeding and almost walks away until i stopped him and asked where he got me. He was like "Um... between 36th and deerfoot" yet where was he at the lights he didnt get there till late and i didnt see him before that and my buddy was in a vehicle a ways behind me said he saw the cop and i was WAY ahead.

Well enough with the rant. Now since memorial is a 80km zone can i fight the ticket and get it changed or tossed out.

memorial isn't completely an 80 zone.. memorial drive east of 36 is a 50 zone..

memorial west, just before deerfoot , just after the train station and on, is a 50 zone right now, because of deerfoot bein closed... i noticed this around 10 lastnight .. what time around did the cop pinch ya ?

11:30ish but there was no way i was going 110 at the 50 section(its was only marked right before the pylons and thats right before the lights) cuz there was quite a bit of traffic and it was a red light and i was slowing down to check out what was going on on deefoot.

well if the ticket was 110 in an 80 i wouldnt care I know i was speeding and know the consiquences.

177 dollars is not a 60 over. That would be more like 500.

thats what i was thinking! if i had a camera id get a pick but it says 115(2)(p) exceed posted limit. Speed limit 50 recorded speed 110 clocked voluntary payment of $177. It seems messed up and the cop wasnt serious at all when he aproached me no lecture no convo or anything.

Id pay it. Take it like a man. I was doing 30 over from here to banff and it only cost me 177. the cops there are nice we got into a long convo about my car and the he told me about his turbo supra good times :thumbsup:

fight every ticket you get. don't listen to theses guys that say "just pay it"....its not their insurance premiums that will skyrocket...

fight it. or at least ask for no demerits.

yeah i think the officer ment to put me as going 110 in an 80 zone. Now since the officer messed up can i get it thrown out?

exactly... dont be greedy.... go down and ask the crown to reduce the ticket as much as possilble and just pay whatever they suggest... prolly $80 or so and maybe 1 or 2 less demerits.

BTW - your lucky you didnt get a 110 in an 80, you'd loose your lisence.
