Can the bulbs be easily replaced with oem D2S bulbs? Or do you have to buy from the manufacturer?

i believe you can replace the Hi/lo bulbs from most of other brand bulbs. because some of the plug are simular. you can get it online or (most of the shop in asia(can give you the phone number and person to order from) or i can get it for you( i am here most of the time), takes 5~10 days to arrive, same as you get it from states.
here are some examples where you can get it:
http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/hidxen35watr.html
http://www.xenonfactory.com/products/hid/polarion.htm
just need to make sure that is real Hi/lo bulbs. and double check is it same as your plug.

Those are definitely d2s bulbs, but it doesn't seem like i could just remove the hi/lo assembly to replace with oem d2s bulbs. Which bulbs did you replace with?

i am not too sure what you mean, why you need to remove the hi/lo assembly, it comes with a kit, just plug and play. here is the picture of the plug from the bulb. i got the bulbs from the place i get the system in taiwan. i believe you can find it in other place, like HK, internet, or some shop in north america carry it ...... . hope this solve your question.

I essentially want to replace the 6000K bulbs with OEM 4300K Phillips or Osram bulbs.
But from the looks of it, it doesn't seem like it could be easily accomplished...

ok im kind of a n00b when it comes to HIDs
ok so let me get this straight
this kit is to make your car have HIDs,
what is a projector headlight, and which one gives you cut off, like a straight line when you pull up to a wall?
sorry, not tryin to highjack your thread, just curious in these lights

yes, this kit can make your car have HID.
projector headlight is something like bimmer, or new celica, they got something like a ball inside the headlight. those headlight can make your light have a perfect cut off line.
some of the expensive HIDs like Philips, Hella...... can have a cut off line on the wall, mine do that too. IMO
i got no complains from on coming traffic, and cops when i using it.
hope this helps.

imo
IF you have projector headlight with HID, for sure you will have the cutoff.
but if you don't have projector headlight with HID, you might have cutoff too. depends.
for my civic i got the cutoff without projector headlight

oh cool, well i need some new headlights anyways.
also how hard would it be to put these in my 92 civic hatch.
im guessing it would just mount right to the back of the headlight.
also these have high and low beams? not sure if i read it right in the previous posts

it just plug and play, just like you changing the factory light bulbs, don't need more than 30 mins to do it. IMO.
yes, they are high and low beam with HID.
will leave tomorrow midnight.

I have tried looking these lights up on the net but I couldn't find a site to tell me if they will fit either a 1991 BMW 850 or a 2002 c230 coupe?
if so I am interested
