I agree it looks fugly although the xbox doesnt exactly look pretty either....the problem with having it white isnt so much that its an ugly color for something like this but most high tech gadgetry is black and this would really stand out...in a bad way...havnt been keeping up with development, I would have thought they would be a little bit smarter this time around and forgo the hard drive....

I for one just purchased an xbox and shall be happy with it for quite some time....probably gonna cost at least 400 bucks on release, im not that crazy to spend that much on a gaming console.....

Nothing is concrete but sources say that it will be backwards compatible but you will have to purchase the optional hard drive as Xbox 360 will use flash memory with the hard drive optional to keep the base price accessible to casual gamers as they know hardcore gamers like me will opt for the HD.

If you mean the new HDDVD/Blueray medias, not a chance. The war between the 2 standard is still on although in ceasefire. Xbox's early release guarantee that it won't support neither. I may show up in subsquent xbox updates 2-3 years down the road.
