also what does locked and unlocked mean?

if its locked to a network only one cellphone profider can be used on it. so if you have a locked fido phone only fido sim cards work on it
rogers and fido are gsm networks where you can use a sim card to identify yourself, if the phone is unlocked you can switch your fido card or rogers card into it, got it?
