Has anyone picked up the febuary issue of Sport Compact Car maganzine? It has the 10 cars that will be competing in the USCC in next months issue. Here's a brief list of the cars that are in it:

-2000 MR2 Spyder
Garrett gt2540 turbo, fully built up and sleeved engine, apex coil overs,

-1972 Rotary 510
1990 rx7 tII engine, to4s turbo, r33 skyline intercooler, haltech e6k ecu,

-1994 Toyota Supra
built up engine, t66 turbo, hks intercooler, AEM computer, 14 inch brake roters!!

-1998 Nissan Skyline gt-r
tomei cams, hks gt 2530 turbo's, hks intercooler, apex power fc ecu, coilovers

-2001 Integra Type R
fully built up engine, t3/to4 turbo, edlebrock itake manifold, comptech coilovers

-1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
BIG spearco intercooler, prototype turbo, 500whp, bear brakes, coilovers

-2002 Laminar Concepts Viking SRX-7
tube frame, composite body, fd rx7 enging, to4b turbo, 450hp, 1700lbs!!

-2002 Subaru WRX
hks gt 3037 turbo, xs engineering intercooler, hks coilovers, m2 brake upgrade

-2001 Dodge Viper ACR
cdi crank, pistons, rods, camshaft, retuned ecu, headers, 14 inch stopteck brakes

-1996 Mitsubishi 3000gt VR-4 Spyder
built up engine, upgraded turbo's, 650hp, 4100pounds:thumbsdow

So who do you think will win? My moneys on the Eclipse or SRX-7. Remember that some of the tests are dyno, 1/4 mile, road course, braking, emissions, divablity, skidpad.

Ah yes that would be our friend Cabojoe over at 3si.org. Everyone's favorite member to flame...not too popular..

Several threads about him...

I Actually voted for the top 10 out of i think like 70 finalists or something like that, I had to Mail in the entry form that was in an issue in the Summer. i think 3 or 4 of the 10 were ones i voted for.

Eclipse is probably Scott Gray's. I think he competed in this before. Owned the rest of the competition even with 1 blown strut.

I think the Supra might take it this year. He did really well last year from what I remember and has upped the HP in the car since then. It might do poorly on the road course but that's it.

it was a very close USCC this year, the top 3 cars were neck and neck.
1st) Viper
2nd) R33 Skyline
3rd) Supra TT

I got a lot more information about it from the R33 and Supra owner if you guys want it.
For those who want to know the S-RX7 ended up breaking and the right hurt Mitsu VR4 placed 8th including a 14.6 1/4 mile apparently.

i'd say the mr2, teg, WRX, supra and viper have the best chances of winning...theyre done up but not extremely extreme in any way that would take away from a street car experience, ie the tube frame rx-7

Sadly, I think Cabojoe is going to make all of us at 3SI.org look like loud mouth retards that can't back up our claims.

I think that most people with any sense can realize that this guy doesn't represent the potential of a stealth. For starters he chose the heaviest model possible. And he didn't address the brakes except for a pad upgrade. Instead of utra sticky hoosier tires like all the other competators have, he's only running on proxes t1-s'. He also claims that he ugraded to TD04-17G turbo's, which sport compact car kindly pointed out don't exist. Who knows what they are, probly stock for all we know. Anyone can claim they have 650hp. I'm sure that a better prepared stealth would be competative in this conest.

the 510 will do badly. The supra is definitely gonna be on the top 3.

that cabojoe cant be THAT stupid, i mean they do dyno test and all that for the competition.

carson call me i gotta talk to you about this. last year we made picks about who was gonna win and you were bang on. and actually the datson did not that bad last year. the type R was the disapointing one:thumbsdow

Ajay

I'm gonna say the Supra this year!

I agree with ecstasy_civic though, the ITR was a total disappointment. Don't understand why they put it in this year again cause it'll probably be another poor showing against all the other cars in the pack.

ecstasy_civic
01-13-2003, 12:49 AM
a supercharged ITR that runs a mid to high 14? thats pathetic:rolleyes:

Ajay
01-13-2003, 12:53 AM
It's very pathetic considering in that same issue there's a EG Civic hatch running 11's with a B18B and turbo!

szw
01-13-2003, 12:55 AM
My vote goes to the SRX-7

ecstasy_civic
01-13-2003, 01:03 AM
but they have to pick well rounded cars and that EG probably wasnt set up for road course and burnouts and driveabilty.
thats where any rotary will have trouble, in the drivability, they test quietness, gas mileage and comfort.
the gas mileage and quietness there is gonna be an issue lol.

Did anybody else notice that the Turbo ITR, who supposedly spent 80K on his car did not upgrade the axels or the tranny.
If this guy is actually running the boost he is saying.....look for used parts in the "classifieds" section soon enough! HaHa
Pretty sweet line up though....

Skyline baby,
you can't beat it
especially not with an eclipse

ecstasy_civic
01-13-2003, 10:23 AM
the skyline got beat last year even running like 25 psi.

hmmm i want the WRX to win...but i dont think it'll do on the 1/4 mile against all those other cars, such as the skyline, supra, but hey you never know ;)

the 510 will do bad because of the ancient suspension, overall chassis, i mean last year it was a horrible car..well some aspects of it

There is nothing wrong with the 510 that a little work can't fix, especially in the suspension.

LOL, people are still posting their guesses even though memystealthandi already posted the results.

Anyways, the Eclipse did us proud in 1/4 and what not but apparently was outdone a bit on track. Oh well, it's a FAWKING sweet car, owned by the Dan Cokic (although Scott Gray's 1G is no slouch either! ) :)

I just loved this post from that thread over on 3si -

"So basically what you did was entered a car that was overweight, under powered, poorly prepared and completely outclassed, and you had a driver (yourself) who was not physically capable of driving the car anywhere near it's admittedly low potential.
But hey, at least you showed up  "

Heh heh, those of us in the know realize the 3SI rocks - too bad it wasn't demonstrated this year. :banghead:
