I have a set of rims that I tried out and put them on my '91 acura integra and it felt like my car was going slower then my speedometer said.

Rims are Enkei RSF2 17"
Tire is 205/40/R17

What could the problem be?

What size tire would be best to use on 15" or 16" rims so that it wont cause my speedometer to read so high?

Between a stock size of 195/60-14's and those tires:
When actually going 100 km/h, the speedo will show 98.9 km/h or 1.037% too slow.

Otherwise I'm stumped... any other size is either not made or won't fit.

I'm in the market for new tires/rims right now for my Civic. I've found the tire size calculator at: www.1010tires.com/ (http://www.1010tires.com) to be a useful tool to finding the best tire/rim combo for my car.

They recomend a 215/40R17 for your car if your going with 17" rims. The calculator says the 205's you have are 4.15% too slow....if I've added in the right specs. for your car.

Don't take my word for it, try it out yourself. I'm still figuring things out. Even the tire guy at the garage can be wrong at times too.

Actually, the original tire size would have been around 23.3 inches overal diameter. The 205/40R17 would be the closest available in a 17 inch at 23.5 inches O.D.

The reason it may feel slower could be due to the added weight, but the slight overall diameter difference is not the issue here. This is the proper 17 inch size to use...
