So B18C, barrybeach and james keep bugging me about getting a CF hood. I'm now curious to know how much one costs. Anyone know?

Why get one just because someone else wants you to?
Well, if he has to get his hood repainted it might be worth while to just get a CF hood instead.

If you're gonna spend $700US, get a clear/colored

why would you want to see the inside of a hood that has no mods?:dunno:
It would be like Gavin wearing transparent pants. There is nothing to see so why show it off? :barf:

I heard CF hoods don't "crush" in front end collisions. :dunno:

thats the reason why i didn't buy a cf hood. if you get into a bad front end accident the hood can chop through the interior of the car.

They tend to shatter.

well built cf hoods don't shatter. i've heard some of them can with stand a semi truck running over it without a scratch. i had a pic of a car that got into a front end crash with a cf hood on. i'll see if i can find it......

i can't find the damn pic. i heard a story of someone in edmonton, red civic, had his carbon fiber hood come off when he was driving. another vehicle ran it over. it didn't even have a scratch on it. well built carbon fiber hoods are strong mofo's.

no...my car is all white and green and if i put some black on it, it might clash?

It takes lot for real CF to shatter. Perhaps I should have used breaks apart (whereas fiberglass would shatter in tiny little pieces). But it's not as bad as say lexan glass that would shear.
As for the hoods it depends how much of it is really CF.
