Got a $120 ticket for doing 95 in a 70 zone on John Laurie last night. Also got a $35 ticket for tinted windows. I passed Shaganpappi and hit the gas while passing some SUV. At the last second I saw the ghost car parked on Brisebois drive and mashed the brakes but it was too late.
Anyways, i got busted fair and square and had a pleasant little chat with the officer (who was a good guy and warned me that they were going to be operating on John Laurie lots for this month).
So thats my tip for all you speed racers.

I don't really understand why john laurie's speed limit isn't higher. 80 or 90 seems more reasonable to me

thank you for the warning, late at night this is one of my favourite roads to speed on.

best road has to be stoney trail for the north west, cause you can see a cop from anywhere.

It's probably because of the intersections between 14 St and Shaganappi Tr. That's the only reason I can see.

SmelltheRubber: Thanks for the warning.

Last Monday I beat a Blue WRX wagon in girlRACER's SLK on John Laurie BLVD going East! Yes the speed limit should be higher, 70 is way too slow

I disagree. I think 70 is fine on John Laurie. Just look at the major intersections on that road(brisebois, charleswood, shag, 53st). I've even seen ppl try to cross John Laurie. Crazy ppl! I'm also glad that they slow it down to 60 after Hawkwood. Seen a lot of close calls along that stretch of road.

If there was off-ramps/interchanges of some sort(like Glenmore or 16th Ave), then yeah, I'm all for a speed raise.

there is also people trying to turn onto jl with the traffic. Try making a left turn off of brisbois or charleswood. I could only imagine what it would be like with people allowed to go 90!

Soon as you hit that corner to ?McNight? everyone finds in necissary to slow down to like 30 and it is just a pain in the ass.. they should raise it for the rest of the road and leave it 70 when you get close to that turn.

What's pissed me off a few times is dumbasses stopping for people crossing the street walking to and from Nosehill park.
Yah, so what if peds have right of way, you can't just f*cken stop in a 70 zone (even though everyone is way over that) and expect everyone else to stop too. No cross walk, peds are fair game.

They be on John Laurie alot this month?! Thanks for the tip cause I LOVE that road late at heading west up to Shaganappi or east after Shaganappi! Guess I should eventually watch my speed on JL though....today coming back home from Co-Op in Crowfoot I was going 90 in the 60 zone of JL...that would be a nasty ticket!
